Do they have any surprise announcement? I ve read a rumor that they will announce something special
...In the video, director Motomu Toriyama didn't beat around the bush when Nomura asked him questions about the 360 FFXIII. Starting off, he reconfirmed that, "We haven't changed the direction of the development. We're making the PS3 version first, and then porting to the 360 later." That means that since the game will be released simultaneously on both platforms in North America and Europe, the PS3 release will be held back in those territories until the 360 version is complete.
Furthermore, Toriyama also revealed that, as of July 29, his team hasn't yet received the tools needed to begin work on the Xbox 360 version of FFXIII. "I'm telling them to not think about the Xbox 360 right now," he said. "We can think about it after the development kits arrive."
The designer also reassured PS3 owners that the game's quality would not suffer due to the 360 port. "We aren't going to change any specifications [of FFXIII] because of the multi-platform announcement," he declared. "Right now, we're fully concentrating on the PS3 version."
I'm sorry but the holding it back to wait till the Xbox360 version is done reeks of they paid us for it.
Hardly. You're not even considering the benefits of a single simultaneous release (in particular territories) in conjunction with marketing and advertising. There has been no indication of plans to release a 360 edition in Japan, which is understandable given the 360's reception there; hence there is no delay in release there.
As their intention is to expand and maximize their software sales potential, particularly through a platform (360) with generally high software sales, it would be somewhat folly to launch the game much later on said system when the game would be considered OFN (pardon the acronym ) in those territories - at the very least, they would be spending more money on advertising a second time when they could have just slapped both platforms together in a single ad.
Out of interest, how long do you think it took for FF's VII through XII to localise? How long in your mind was the gap between each game's Jap to the US and PAL releases?Sure but if it's another year wait beyond what it would originally be I say sitting on a product that could be selling while they tweak the Xbox360 version, you are missing out on all those potential profits. It really depends on how long the wait is but anything beyond a year would be asinine.
Hell 6 months would be pushing it in my eyes.
I'm sorry but the holding it back to wait till the Xbox360 version is done reeks of they paid us for it.
Well I'd expect that Square are changing the way they do things - in part because of BR (i.e., having "one" global version rather than a US version, wait six months, then do the PAL/multi-language release) but 6 months seems to be par for the course as a minimum. Your view that 6 months is "pushing it" makes me think you need to re-evaluate your expectations, since it's certainly nothing new.In the US it was always released 6-12 month later usually coming up to the Christmas holiday. PAL I never really paid attention to but it always seemed like maybe a year after that.
Sure but unless they are tweaking the PS3 version the whole time it's dead weight. Sitting in release form waiting. That means an investment you are not making back. Sitting on it it for 6 months to a year won't offset the sales that could be made during that time.
