Sony VR Headset/Project Morpheus/PlayStation VR

Apparently a game can output a completely different render on the TV than on Morpheus. There isn't enough bandwidth on the HDMI to do that, so either the reprojection is done by the external box, or in that mode it's down to 60fps on Morpheus?
Or 1080/90p on morpheus and 1080/30p external?

Rumour: Gran Turismo 7 will launch with Project Morpheus.

that would really boost the profile of Morpheus . Smart move if true. This and uncharted could make the unit move off the shelves.

Uncharted is 30 fps no VR. VR need 60 fps locked or nearly locked framerate... If the rumor is true it is a good news for the next GT, GT7 or GT sport...

Uncharted framerate was never part of conversation. Eastmen was simply thinking about possible retail situation of PS4 [not moprheus].

As of the article, it is pure speculation from unknown website without any sources. So who knows. News makes sense, but it is far from being confirmed.

Yeah, it's likely considering all the things they've done in the past with GT7 etc. but on the other hand I think that GT7 release date won't be announced until they are certain it will be out soon, because it has had a very bad rep of pushing release dates in the past.

Gran Turismo aspired to be 60fps on PS3, I don't see why they would shoot for lower, of course having to have it locked at 60fps would be nice this time around!

There was plenty of project Morpheus at Gamescom, only pity you had to reserve your demo spot online in advance. Late sunday afternoon they had lots of technical problems and at 5 PM there seemed to be in a rush to pack and go home (I had hoped I could squeeze myself in).

They were mainly demo'ing a game where some regular players controlled the infamous Playroom bots and the persoon with the VR headset controlled some sort of huge worm, where with your head you had to basically "bang" the little robots.

Another setup was with two Move controllers, but you couldn't see the pictures on the monitor.

I heard stories that causing movements with your head and controllers is a recipe for moving sickness. Someone has any experience ?

As long as everything is tracked fine, presence of controllers introduces no problems. Countless people tried this setup in many games, including several morpheus demos [knight weapons, two London Heist demos, many demos on DK2, almost every HTC Vive demo].

Moving sickness most easily appear when you STRAFE using your gamepad. Brain can't handle that easily.

Morpheus hardware ready to go, but waiting for games to catch up.

In a recent Reddit post, a user noted what Dennis Castleman, hardware R&D engineer at SCE had said in a Facebook post about the HMD: “I’ve been working on Sony’s project Morpheus for 3 years, it’s going to go to market in 2016. It’s a bit different for things like cell phones or established technologies. When I was designing televisions it was usually 18 months to get a new model into production. A VR HMD is a bit different it also takes time for the component vendors to rampup for million unit volumes.” Adding: “In our case the HMD hardware is ready to go, we’re just waiting for the game titles to catch up with the hardware.”

Gallery Six Elements will arrive on Morpheus, and it has one of the best new approaches to locomotion in 3D VR space

I really hope they will be able to port these movement options to all VR systems.

He actually said it was a launch game on the Vive and would later be ported to Occulus and Morpheus. So that pretty much covers all VR systems (I'm not counting the crappy mobile versions).

Yeah, but because Oculus and Morpheus are so much "forward facing oriented" in terms of users position in 3D space, dev will have to tweak this Blink system a bit [to allow user to repossition himself back in "start state" - looking at the camera].
