Sony VR Headset/Project Morpheus/PlayStation VR

Anyway sony said in an interview there will be a bundle with move and the camera. This was just a PR stunt for the lower price

That makes a lot of sense and I'd expect the bundle to offer better value. My guess is £400-420 with camera + 2 movess.

Given PSVR launches at around the same as Oculus Touch, comparing the value proposition at that time could be interesting.

I'm going to put touch lower than $200. I think HTC set the celling on it. I wouldn't be surprised if oculus made it even cheaper for those who had reserved a touch with their rift preorder.

Damn it's headset only right? PS camera is 60 dollars here. PS move no longer sold by anybody.

So 500 dollars for full package maybe?

Still 100 dollars cheaper than rift but damn. That's like 6-7 million in my currency.

You can't subtract what people already own on one side to lower the price, and not do the same thing to compare with the other side.

Ps4+camera+moves+psvr: $850
Oculus+touch+minimum PC: $1730
Vive+minimum PC: $1830

But say you already have a recent PC upgrade.... So it's $830 for you.
Or you don't care about motion controllers and upgraded recently... $630.
I already have ps4, move and camera... So it's $400 for me.
Move is on amazon for $25.
In canada pcvr is $2000+
YMMV.

Remember the 970/r290 is recommened not minimum.

Also you can just wait for another coupon on that hp pc. 980ti , 16 gigs of ram and an i7 6700k for $1150 isn't a bad deal.

It's great to see this finally here though!
Was just watching this:
just standard horror games on Rift.

Can't imagine the Silent Hill PT in PSVR. Good luck haha.. never going to sleep again.

Might be a good place for indie devs to go for VR lol.

The current lighthouse is rather 'jittery' at "warehouse" (20*20m) scale; you can see it demonstrated in the videos from the youtube channel "node guys". In any case, lighthouse is the superior room scale tracking option, in everything; cpu requirements, usb (cable, ports, processing) requirements, set up, tracking 'resolution', everything. There is not a single thing in which the Oculus tech excels, not a single thing. This is the very reason for the delayed motion control launch; they hope enough people, like eastman, are sold on the lie that oculus will have comparable tech, but that will never happen. Then "pride of ownership" takes over, and eastman and the likes will convince themselves "Room-scale is a gimmick, seated VR is where it's at! Who needs precise room-scale tracking? We still have cables anyway lol, I don't want to trip over! haha ".

If I was ever going to build a PC again (which is such a joke these days); then I would certainly go with Valve/ HTC. Better tech, games, everything. They don't have a lying CEO running the place for one thing. And that is something which is rare today trust.

I want to point out something.

I like the oculus touch because of the controls

I've used all 3 controllers and the touch are so nice. . Using them in a game feels natural when using the vive or move I feel like I'm using a stick to pick up and interact with stuff. With tehse I feel like i'm using my hands.

So while Rift's tracking may not be as good as light houses , the controllers are far better esp when you need to squeeze the htc controller its just so awkward.

So call me what you will , I've been called worse . Last night a kid called me the S word in gears of war.... I am not from that part of Italy thank you very much.

Oculus said:
The answer is likely “No.” VR content requires a powerful gaming PC to pump out the high frame rate required to make the experience fluid and enjoyable. Many people will have to upgrade their graphics card or invest in a new PC to meet the minimum specs required. What are those specs?

Oculus and HTC have both released official recommendations for PC system requirements and interestingly the specs are almost identical.
Sounds like it's pretty much the minimum to me. Sure you could go with lesser specs and have a choppy/inconsistent framerate if you want...

And if we're bringing deals/coupons into this, then just wait until the PS4 hits 299 or less with free game(s) again. The PS4 camera goes on sale often and has been as low as $30 at amazon.

There are a ton of games out there, I don't see anything in werewolves within needing a 290 or higher to run at 90 fps at the required resolution .

Also it doesn't matter how a person chooses to get what they want. You can go out and get a used 290 for $150ish on ebay right now. You can get a used move controller for $18 bucks . I'd recommend both honestly.

I did work at a gamestop for a few years back in the ps2 days. I would not recommend buying a used system. We would get those in and have to spray them for roaches.

Yes, as already discussed a while back and fueled how powerful the processing box is or how it probably just leftover stocks of psvita. :D

I'm still bummed with how the cable is managed.

Why two ports?

But probably this will make hackers works easier in reverse engineering it? Just a wee bit easier. A wee bit.

One port is standard hdmi, the other is custom for power, control, sensors, headphone audio. GHz signalling is difficult, and this way they get easy compliance and off the shelf parts for the most difficult aspect of data transfer.

I am curious what would happen if someone chain two of those extensions.
