Sony Vita Games Thread

to me R3 is a great end to the franchise, I honestly don't want anymore Resistance game. I think Sony really ran out of studios in the US to do spin off for them lol, Even Ready at Dawn turn away the GOW vita game and they are probably the only one that can do things right in terms of tech and gameplay. And they got these Sanzuru guy to to sly 4, which did the sloppy sly collection, and prior to that they did some shovel ware for the wii. Maybe they should start looking at European developers, but I can't think of theres any either. Last company that I remember that handle reboot and spin off for other companies are Grin and now they are gone.

OMG  They gave Resistance to these guys !!!! I thought it was Retribution guys who were handling this game ! Oh my god, whats got into Sony ! I am having serious doubts about getting it now  ! Is Resistance finally dead !!!!

Well, actually, that game had some of the best Move first person shooting mechanics. So perhaps there is hope. ;)

now that I think about it, maybe Sony should move some of their no so popular IP to Vita. Give the new and young developers smaller budget to be creative on the platform with those IP. Like Santa Monica Studio is suppose to have their senior GOW team and a bunch of smaller teams, maybe one of the younger team can handle a Heavenly Sword 2 for Vita with experience and advice from the GOW team. Kind of like how nintendo got their junior to work on Mario 3ds, when they have proof themselves they get their own studio and expand on it. I think this is much better than getting some random shovel wares makers, or crappy developer to handle their IP. They kind of got the idea when they got High Impact games (former insomnaics games employees), to do the first Ratchet PSP and turned out very good, however the quality for the later games kind of drop lower and lower.

A modern Heavenly Sword 2 would be quite cool. A mix of Naughty Dog and Studio Santa Monica magic to get the engine slick... Hmm Tasty.

Though the Vita could probably handle the original HS engine pretty easily!?

Finished Golden Abyss and yes, I have to say Sony couldn't have made a better launch title. The game drags in the 20s chapters but really picks up near the end ! Overall loved it, but the story and dialogues were very very shallow compared to Uncharted games.

If Vita can manage such visuals in a launch title........wow ! I hope Bend shares their engine with other devs too. That Resistance game look nowhere nearly as good as this. The visuals were just fan-tas-tic in Golden Abyss.....always had the feeling that I was playing something between Uncharted 1 and 2 :) ! Even the Unit13 demo looks fabulous ! Wonder why these engines were not used for Resistance: Burning skies !

Golden Abyss is awesome. :)
I really liked the collecting treasures minigame in the cutscenes, even tough i usually hate interactivity in cutscenes. :p

I'm not really worried about the Resistance game.
The universe is great, and I don't think they can mess it up too much.
Nihilistic hasn't been to sucesfull with the commisioned games, their best effort is probably their debut-title, Vampire - Masquerade. After that they've allways been a studio wich mostly got one thing right, but two wrong. Ending up with not the best games.
However, I think the studio have better chances working on a handheld rather than competing with the huge Multiplatform- and HD-platform studios.

What I've seen from the game, looked fun, but I havn't bothered watching much since debut-gameplay.. Were decided when I saw it looked to be OK shooting, and weapon wheel, I've avoided watching more, because I'm decided to buy it.

And I also think Sony will delay this title even more, or move the production inhouse - maybe have Bend, or someone else salvage it - if they don't think the game isn't good enough to cater to us Resistance-fans in play-tests, before they release it.

I don't see the problem with Resistance. From all the previews and video it looks to be shaping up to be a good entry in the canon. There doesn't seem to be any negativity from reviewers only from a few people who don't like Nihilistic.

just that the latest trailers don't seem much good visually. Gameplay might be good, but seemed slow for a Resistance game when they showed it some time back. Only a Demo can tell the truth.

kind of want Vita to turn into the ultimate indie gaming platform. Beautiful screen and portability, and the price for those games are just right, much lower than all full price retail games and a higher than 99 cents iOS game but with more contents. River City Rampage is a good start, hope Super Time Force and others will follow.

Secondary fire via touch screen looks pretty awkward, though. Forcing the player to take the right thumb off of the right analog stick in order to perform an essential shooter action strikes me as a rather terrible idea.

I think that's optional. It's just harder to implement some functions when you are missing 2 shoulder buttons and R3\R4.
