Sony: Press Conference & Tokyo Game Show

The question is: wth are they going to talk about in TGS if they let all these stuff out yesterday ?

The Last guardian... DUH......

Seriously I have no idea, most likely they will get into more first party stuff which hasn't been announced yet and possibly detail a little more about some of the other services planned for PSN? Personally I'm hoping they go beyond the Cerny elevator speech and speak more about their overall vision for the platform. They have their core talking points down now and its getting a little stale.

Edit: I think they should have announced/planned a free downloadable app which you can use to turn your cell phone into a Vita TV remote. Also it really should have a bit more memory but overall interesting device.

How many years have we waited ? The boy is now 18 I believe.

Probably and finally (!) a walkthrough of the UI ?

For people who missed the show, like me, here's a summary:

Well they're doubling-down on the loser that the Vita has been.

VTV shouldn't even be a separate product. That capability, to connect to a TV, should have been built in from the start, if not wirelessly stream.

Sounds like the new Vita is a more competitive product, though the screen will be less expensive and not as good presumably.

The rumored $500 bundle with PS4 would be compelling but as a standalone product?

Maybe in Japan with those quirky games but that's about it.

If they ever get any hit first-party games for handhelds, they'd be wise to publish on iOS and Android, maybe get DS3 or DS4 pairing for those other devices working.

Essentially what Nintendo should be doing, with their greater 1st-party catalog.

If Nintendo released a NES 2.0 set top box that essentially was for VC games, Netflix, Youtube and browsing for 80 bucks I'd buy one. The PSV TV is a good idea if somewhat challenged by the technical hurdles associated with bringing over the PS2 library of games but with streaming offering access to the games it should be a very interesting option for some.

It seems that the VitaTV has met with a very positive response! I find that a little surprising as, though it is fine in principal, it seems a little skewed in relation to it position vis a vi the Vita and PS4. Though if it works with PlayTV or contains PlayTV (in Europe) it will be an entirely different beast. At the moment it seems more a sop for the Japanese market.

Anyway some feedback

Wonder if it will be built into TVs sooner rather than later ...

So, I'm not getting the PS VITA TV, myself.

99 USD (if/when it comes to the US, it's currently a Japan only product) + XX USD for a controller + XX USD for a memory card in order to play PS VITA games on TV? And it can't even play PS VITA's Uncharted?

That's already pretty much the cost of an entry level 12 GB PS3, which has more games that look better on the TV and comes with a controller.

I'm not seeing how this is compelling in any way, except for people that already own a PS3 and VITA (so you don't have to necessarily buy a controller and memory card). And even then, I question the value of it.

SB

Well, there are some concerns

- Price, ok it's 99$ but it doesn't include a DS3. If you are targeting the same people that bought the PS2 during the 2007-2011 period, you have to assume they don't own a PS3 and therefore neither a DS3.

- Price of the Value Pack (DS3 included) is about 149$, getting real close to the PS3 price. With both consoles offering some of the same services you are going to create confusion among the consumers.

- And the name, don't call it PS Vita TV, most people will think it's just a TV adaptor for the current Vita, don't make the same mistakes as nintendo.

Apart from that, i'm going to get one for my nephew. ;)
