Sony PlayStation VR2 (PSVR2)

Funny to see the shift in stance in PC Forums from "PSVR2< PCVR because cable yada yada"

To some now even considering to go back to christian believe to have a daily prayer slot available to ask God the Almighty to "make it work on PC"

😝😝😝

I'm not sure what PC Forums you're referring to here given this is the only thread where PSVR2 is being discussed. But I see no shift in stance happening. There absolutely are certain aspects of some PCVR headsets that are superior to PSVR2 and wireless streaming is a big one of those. Others would be size/form factor, screen resolution, FoV, tracking capabilities, refresh rates etc...

However as I have stated multiple times already in this thread, the PSVR2 has arguably the best mix of these features of any currently available headset irrespective of it's price.

I'm not aware of any PC gamer that hasn't wanted this on PC since the very start since it's value proposition blows all other high end PC headsets out of the water.

What the impressions have surprised me with though is how much impact the OLED HDR panels make, and how apparently comfortable it it while still having great light blockage and plenty of glasses space. These are what tip it's otherwise good spec into superb territory for me.

Would I get this over the upcoming Pimax 12k though if both were offered at the same price? That's a different question entirely, but it's not a relevant one as the Pimax will cost more than 4x as much.

I saw the update for No Man's Sky pop-up this morning. I had heard that it had been delayed!

It's funny to see people act like it's the second coming when it's basically just bringing PSVR up to a standard set by PCVR for a few years now.

I don't like the pointless pro-PSVR2 trumpeting that you are replying to - I'm aggrieved PCVR is getting mentioned so much in this thread where it's largery irrelevant save as we're getting now comparisons of experience, maybe on hardware cost considerations - but the point here is lots of PCVR is actually apparently saying, "you know what, this thing is even better than what we've been experiencing" rather than "don't bother, PCVR has had this for years and there's nothing to care about." PCVR hasn't set any standard. I think it's had a range of differing parameters without a clear standard, has possibly languished the last few years due to no significant momentum, and now there's a new VR headset that's consolidated a lot of the best features at a fabulous price for those features in a compelling package that is not by any stretch the 'standard' for PCVR, especially at this price range.

People's enthusiasm which you're objecting to seems to be the realisation of the excitement of the PSVR/Oculus promise for VR at a large scale. I don't see why anyoen would object to that enthusiasm considering it's genuine and unbiased - that means the VR experience is actually achieving, which is a really good thing for VR all round!

can you test with glasses? let us know whether a glasses stopper is needed or not

We've been having a play for a few hours. Overall impression of the headset is really good and glasses are not a problem. Like OG PSVR, you can you set the distance of the lenses/panel from your glasses/eyes but even at the close distance we didn't have any issues.

It's super nice that it's easy to connect (compared to PSVR) and once you have the headset, aligned and comfy, it's nice to be able to switch to the external cameras to find that controller you just put down somewhere..

There are now a bunch of demos on the PlayStation Store that weren't there yesterday, including Resident Evil Village. GT7, apart from the dreadful menus, is fantastic. So is the Kayak game. We bought the Sense Controller charging station so our controllers have somewhere to live and will always be charged. Looking forward to the weekend when we'll get to play with things a bit more.
