Sony PlayStation VR2 (PSVR2)

PSVR typically does not go full black, instead the minimum is a sort of dark film grain. This was to prevent black smearing due to OLED response time coming back from a powered off black pixel. It will be interesting to hear how dark PSVR2 is allowed to get.

Odyssey+ has no limitations with it's AMOLED panels but it also smears a lot in dark games. It looks like a strange black smoke wafting around when you look around. It's annoying but it's still better than gray fog of a LCD.

Not sure if this has been posted yet but I watch this guy a fair bit on the PC side and he really knows his stuff.

He compares it to the highest end PC headsets here including the Varjo Aero and as a total package he says PSVR2 comes out on on top.

Fair play to Sony, they've created something amazing here, and at this price it's just insane. If this had PC compatibility I'd already have it on order. Hell, I'm half tempted to get a PS5 just for this but the total outlay is just a little too much at the moment.

DF's John L said it compared well to the headsets he's used as well.

I really hope that Sony officially support PSVR on PC. In the recent DF Weekly, John, and Richard conjecture that Sony may be taking a loss on the hardware given how inexpensive it is compares price-wise to good PC headsets, but it feels like Sony might have an inventive to support PC if they intent to bring future PSVR2 games to PC.

Sony have demonstrated that they are really good at cost reducing hardware. PSVR2 games on two platforms (PS5 and PC) makes sense given it's still a niche gaming market.

He even sain in Kayak vr he prefered vs Aero (2k $ headset) even tough aero has higher res he prefer oled colors. Wouldnt expect this type of hype from person who tested highest end vr.

Indeed, and I trust this guy when he says it. I wish he'd have been clearer on whether he compared to the Pimax Crytsal as well though which has both insane resolution and FoV. He said he had it there, but as it's unreleased it's not clear if its a working/final unit. I'm also very keen to see how it compares to Big Screen Beyonds OLED panels. In any case though, this appears to be the best all round VR solution money can buy right now while also being one of the cheapest solutions on the market, which is pretty crazy.

Funny to see the shift in stance in PC Forums from "PSVR2< PCVR because cable yada yada"

To some now even considering to go back to christian believe to have a daily prayer slot available to ask God the Almighty to "make it work on PC"

😝😝😝

He’s a regular on PSVR Without Parole who received a review unit (from Sony UK) whereas Without Parole’s owner, Bryan, was blacklisted or at least shut out (by Sony US or maybe ultimately Japan). Really weird to blacklist one of your biggest proponents. Water under the bridge as it’s basically release day, but weird.

I’m surprised by how many YT reviewers are getting wheels to play GT7, at least as a proportion of the handful I watch. You don’t see anyone taping their Senses to a paddle (or at least two spatulas) for Kayak. ;)

Parole leaked psvr2 specs months before official news so… :d

They seem disappointed with some aspects of the headset.
There is no single type of lenses with all pros, there wil be always pro and cones at least for now, interesting response in comment:
Yep - I just got my PSVR2 and I own quest pro AND the steam index. Which are both amazing.

I just want to say right now that this reviewer is being overly critical, I find the edge clarity excellent and overall picture quality in the OLED screen to be better than either of those two headsets - HDR in OLED makes that much difference, that it makes me wonder if we are making a mistake with LCD and pancake.

Damn i still have to work all day before getting my hands on it :runaway:
Same. When our OG PSVR arrived on launch day in 2016, my other half opened the box intending to set it up before I got home. She saw the breakout box and mess of cables and noped out. I suspect when I come home this afternoon, she'll be kayaking around the antarctic or crashing cars in GT7.
