Sony Home - The official thread*

Yeah... I think so too. :p

They need to let us do it in one click though. Don't just have us pull one chair at a time, going through panels and panels of dialog boxes.

Many of Facebook's most popular games are continuing to hemorrhage millions of users, with FarmVille alone losing 7.7 million players in the past month, since the social network implemented changes to its app notifications.

Their troubles stem from Facebook's decision three months ago to limit application notifications, which many developers relied on for the viral growth of their titles, in an effort to make interactions with apps "more streamlined, clear, and less spammy for users".

Ha ha, left Facebook a year ago. Didn't like the way games and other applications abused Facebook's notifications. Glad to see the management restricting notification use. They should return to their "college yearbook" root, and highlight user content instead.

Should Home, LBP2, Modnation Racer or Premium PSN want to leverage on FaceBook's user base, they should consider publishing meaty content to the site. e.g., Using Move to publish complex info (e.g., simple 3D world, mini level, post processed photos/videos) to that site. Make it compatible with Flash or HTML5.

Spamming the users usually leads to a backlash. ^_^

This week marks the opening of the FIFA soccer stadium lounge in the American PlayStation Home. Head over there tomorrow to play the soccer mini-game and to check out the extensive range of soccer merchandise (I believe I saw a football costume – no really, like wearing a football).

It will be open tomorrow (3rd June) after maintenance, however, next week it will unlock to become the first ever global PlayStation Home public space, where you will be able to get together with 14 million other PlayStation Home users to celebrate the World Cup 2010. So, make sure you go back next Thursday, 10th June for the global opening.

Not sure what they mean by global public space (all 3 regions can visit ?).

I went to the FIFA stadium yesterday. The space loads quickly, but the characters and soccer shooting mini-game took quite long to load. The queuing system was there too.

What's interesting though is we could all spectate the mini-game as it unfolds. I could see the player animation as well as his ball movement throughout the entire game right on the soccer field in the stadium.

Usually, I could only see the gamer standing like a dummy while he/she plays a mini-game. This was a pleasant surprise.

The space was rather ambitious (huge). I'd choose a faster load and response.

The brand new PlayStation Home Community Theater serves to bring players closer to their favorite gaming websites, blogs, podcasts, videocasts (and other media outlets) while further uniting the enormous audience under the shared interest of awesome PlayStation games. This dedicated screen in PlayStation Home’s 10-Screen Theater provides a channel for bloggers and journalists to connect with the huge and diverse PlayStation Home community through exclusive videos specially crafted for PlayStation Home.

This week will see the introduction of our first partners in this new venture — PS Nation. As one of the most respected independent sites focused on PlayStation games, we consider this group of hardcore gaming aficionados to be a perfect introduction to our quickly growing roster of Community Theater participants.
...

Hopefully the media and the community use this channel wisely.

I'd say demolish the 10-screen theater. Give me a portable TV/projector in PS Home and let us watch any video just by switching channel.

It appears there's a 1.36 update for home.
It asks me to update, but when I accept, the PS3 boots itself and the Home never updates.
Somethingto do with E3??

Something similar happened last time they had an update. When it asks you to update, make sure the HDD yellow light has stopped blinking. After that it worked.

I have no idea if this will work again.

Yap, you have to wait for the HDD to stop spinning for the Home update. No idea why.

If you're iffy about it, just delete and redownload the entire thing.

-1 for Home team (again !).

few posts up:LOL:

When greeted with the 1.36 Patch notification screen, wait for the yellow HDD activity light on your PS3 to stop flashing before pressing any buttons.

Once the yellow HDD access light has stopped blinking, press [CROSS] to start the install process. The update patch download should then begin as usual.

If you press any buttons before the yellow HDD access light stops flashing, your PS3 will restart and you will need to repeat this process from the beginning.

It's a bug in the update process. I had it on another game as well the other day, yeah it was Super Stardust. Interestingly, I noticed that if I waited for the lights to continue long enough, I even got the menu music playing with the prompt to update still on the screen. Ah, the wonders of multi-threading. ;)

Oh, sorry  It really needed just that I waited for the yellow light to go off.
No updates related to E3 there yet, just the same old, boring stuff...

It's true it's the same old boring stuff because if they didn't find the initial features appealing, then they won't find the incremental improvements attractive. Home appeals mostly to chatters and people who want to socialize virtually. That's it.

One or two Home games are interesting but they're buried deep inside. rabidrabbit won't be able to find them without directions.

The community features and user generated content are largely missing.

My apologies ! +1 back to Home.

Had a little go last night, this has come on quite a bit!

Does anyone know if you can reverse the up/down settings when looking around? I looked in the settings but must be blind!?

Also, is there a font of all 'what are good minigames in Home'?

What do you mean ?

There are some Home fan sites on the net. e.g., alphazone4.com
You can find info about items and games there.

My favorite is Sodium Saltshooter. Buzz! and Xi are interesting also.
