So...which HDTV do you have?

With all these new consoles supporting HDTVs I thought it would be nice to see how many of us B3Ders have HDTV sets and what models we have. Here is mine:

62" Toshiba HD Monitor DLPâ„¢ Projection TV with HDMIâ„¢
(got the stand too :D )

Bring on Xbox 360 and PS3!

What do you have?

None... (besides my PAL 14" CRT 640*480?"

Still waiting for 1080p

I asked the personal in a Swedish store about it, but they know nothing. I knew more than them about their own products... :p

That's the same model i was interested in, but the 46" one. It's also one of the very very few DLP now available in the UK.

No HDTV yet, but i've got a Sony HS 50 (720p) projector with a 92" screen. And f.e "Gladiator" (1080i) looks daaamn good on it. Watch a DVD after that and you'll think it's a crappy avi movie. Blurry is probably the right word. Though perhaps i should try the ffdshow filter and see if some upscaling makes it look better.

Maybe i should mention that "Return of the king" also looks very good at 1080i :)

Panasonic 50" Plasma (1366x768 native) + Lumagen Vision-HDP scaler.

I might upgrade it in a couple of generations when 1080p becomes the normal res for plasmas...

We're going to get a HDTV next year. We've had our Sony WEGA 36" XBR since 1999. Now that HD content is out in force, and the next gen consoles support it, it's time to hop on the bandwagon. :)

Btw quick question. Are there any sets out there that support true 1080p? And if so, what do the prices look like? We'd like to buy our next television set and keep it for 7 years like we kept our WEGA.

And is there a place that will explain all the differences between the HDTV technologies? In other words, DLP vs LCD vs Plasma. Which is better for image quality, gaming, watching movies, etc. We'd be looking at a set that's 40"+ at the very minimum.

I've got a 50" Sony KF-50XBR800 RPV-LCD that has a native resolution of 1366x768. I'm looking to replace it with a KDS70XBR100 1080 SXRD set (when one comes available, or a newer model perhap), which is basically a cheaper version of the Qualia 006 (which we have at work and it embarrasses my set :( )

That was the model that was suppose to be out in early 2005 for "under $10k."

Instead, they came out with the Qualia for $13k.

Are they going to be able to work out the manufacturing yields?

Is Sony ever going to productize the GLV?

Beats me... the SXRD panels are cranking comparable pictures, so who knows... Perhaps if yeilds continue to not be so hot...

Well the Qualia 006 actually came out in 2004 so it's not the "instead" TV. However the innards are still supposed to make it into the consumer line Grand VVegas (even if the KDS70XBR100 does get aborted)...

I want to get a Samsung ~46" DLP HDTV in about a years time, definately by the end of 06'. Right now I just have a standard 32" CRT TV.
