It increases sales (look at PS2 slim's catapult of sales) and leads to a price drop.

For all we know he could say the states to deflect it from the real source.

Well, the ones that supposedly was in the wild are already sold, if we believe the story.

This could be either way, but hey who cares, I won't buy it from pinoy market store/stall anyway, I plan to wait for a price drop before picking up any PS3 now.

What makes this even more "fake-ish" is how many excuses people have to make in order to make it plausible...

This is NOT saying that PS3 slim doesn't exist. I'm pretty darn sure it will be coming out sometime in the future.

This is only in regards to the supposed PS3 slim that was supposedly recently sold. That so many otherwise rational people have to work to come up with excuses as to why this might be plausible... Yeah...

    Regards,
    SB

IMO we just can't say for sure either way, is it likely, not really, but we can not 100% rule it out, because stranger things has happened.

How can you rule out that 1 or 2 pinoys working the assembly line stuffing the devices into boxes was not able to bring one home with them?

I spent a bunch of time with pinoy assembly line workers in Taiwan, so its not 100% impossible scenario.

He said he will get another one in a month, in my experience they work shifts of a month on a couple of weeks off then on again, do I think its like this no, but I can not rule it out either :)

Why wouldn't you expect the PS3 Slim to pop up in the States first? This is their biggest market, and it's not doing well in Japan (and likely won't do any better until FFXIII releases).

Because new tech normally pops up in the far east where it's produced first?

You mean like when we saw the first photos that came from China (the far east)?

It's not uncommon for stolen electronic products to end up in the Philippines.

This should be the pricing strategy on the Slim:

    80GB PS3 (fat) = $299
    120GB PS3 (Slim) = $349
    160GB PS3 (fat) = $399

This would seem logical based on disk sizes, and only the 160GB would come with a bundled game to make sure it still sells. Sony could liquidate it's 80GB and 160GB hardware and release a new 320GB model (slim) to replace the old 160GB but at $449. They could keep these prices until next year (holiday 2010 season). By then the PS3 could use another sales boost with another $50 price drop for the 2 remaining slim models.

And, you would think, they would show up somewhere along the 8 week boat ride to, or anywhere in the supply chain, before the firsthands on sighting occured in the USA..

But anyway, stop the thread! PS3 slim totally confirmed!

Gosh, that's slim! Very light as well, he's holding it one handed on the end. I guess the PSU is external, but if not, it's another sweet piece of engineering from Sony!

Are the USB ports on the back, or am I missing something from that video.
That would be nice, as I rarely connect other than some permanenet devices like a hub, usb hdd or the cam in the ports.
    It's slimmer than I thought!

Hmm, you've got a point there. The end result seems sliimer than most of us were anticipating if this is it. Still, I can't be botherd to change the title back again!

What's in it for IGN regards this clip? Wouldn't a fabrication discredit them? It's clearly a hoax regards the secret camera filming. I just read that as artistic license in a reveal.

Well exactly. I'm amazed that anyone would think otherwise.

Really  I was sure it too was real!
Clearly, the video was made tongue in cheek, shakyblurrycam and all.

Has Sony EVER released a console in the US first? Wait, has Sony EVER released anything in the US first?

I suppose there's a first time for everything, but...
