Ridge Racer 6 Gameplay movies

you've gotta wonder what happened here. It looks like very little effort on Namco's part. I wonder how much Microsoft paid to get this on Xbox 360.

Hey, I thought it looked less bad in motion. At least it's running at 60 fps and the road textures seem to be quite nice. The scenery, though not as impressive as I'd hope from a next-gen game, has some nice details and a lot of stuff going on (helicopters etc...).

Kameo and this are the only 60fps games according to reports for the show. But the style of Ridge Racer is its arcade-ness, so changing it won't do good for the series fans I assume...

DOA 4 and Ninety-Nine Nights likewise 60 fps.

99 Nights=2000 character+60 fps!!! AWESOME!

What a downer...

the video looks horrible...

I could've sworn that looked like a psp game...

i guess i will be picking up PGR3 and NFS instead...

It might not look that impressive, but there's no doubt in my mind the experience will be much more immersive and fullfilling than any other racer that runs at half the framerate...

It could be running at 100000000000000....^2 fps If (and most certainly) keeps the same gameplay(limited & dull features with no replay value whatsoever)/design/SoundFx&MusicStyle of the RRV (& lack of some story, even if the old romance&"i must furfill my destiny" ) and just give it a polished crappy look as it currently is (imo) Namco would do better going back to their "garage" untill something competitive and interesting is done... or at least pleasurable!.

The same can be applied to pretty much every "realistic" racer there is. WipeOuts and such are another matter of course.
It's driving around the tracks, unless the dev goes the Burnout road and makes destruction a big part of the game.... it's just racing, drifting, overtaking, nitrobosting.... NFS, RR, Outrun, Forza, GT... not much innovation, but enjoyable racers all the same.

I've enjoyed the Ridge series even though they've basically been the same with more tracks, better graphics over the years. To me it's the adrenaline rush they give me, they're one of the few games that manage to put me into the "zone" where I concentrate to the driving almost 100%.

There is a huge difference between a realistic racer and an arcade racer though. Games like Gran Turismo, Forza, MotoGP and Toca are trying to be as realistic as possible, which means that what they do is limited to real racing styled gameplay, which is, just drive around the track and try to finish first.

But Ridge Racer is an arcade racer, like the NFS or Burnout series, and in that arena, Burnout has set the mark to beat. Compared to Burnout, Ridge Racer really does look like a game from 1993 with a graphics update.

Of course, but it's just a difference in driving style. NFS and RR have different racing styles compared to each other too, so...

It's MUCH more than just a difference in driving style, it's a fundamental change in gameplay. There are massive environmental differences, differences in the types of traffic and what they do, obsticals in the track, etc....

Switching from Gran Turismo to MotoGP is a diffference in driving style, but you'll still be racing on the same track with the same objective, and against similar opponents who take similar lines.

Switching from a sim to Ridge Racer is as different as running a hundred yard dash is to running for your life while under sniper fire in a crowded shopping mall.
