Resident Evil 5

In my opinion, RE5 has the better character models of the above mentioned, in terms of detail. On impressively high polygon characters; per-pixel shaders further express fine pore details and facial hair. I also think the hair on Chris Redfield is more impressive than that on Drake's model, is very well defined however I have reason to believe, that Drake himself is a little better animated.

quality of models in RE5 is unbelievably good... beautiful game... too bad the mechanics just turn me off completely (from the 360 demo)

Oh, I quite like it. In fact, I'm really quite excited for the full game. Love how the camera moves...especially when you're getting attacked. So cinematic.

The demo allowed me to confirm to myself what I had already feared based on previews. That the control system is much the same as it was in 4, and therefore as frustrating to me as I remember it being in 4. I'll have to take a pass on this one (at least at MSRP). Although the Offline/Online Coop mode is quite alluring to me.

Another thing that bugs me is the size of the characters. Chris takes up a lot of the screen. With him in the way, it's hard to see what's going on around him. If the girl is close to you, that makes it even worse. This adds to the already bad controls which are slow to move along with not being able to aim and move.

The developers seemed to have realized how stupid the controls are so they dumb down the zombies accordingly. The zombies will run at you, stop and move side to side before slowly coming at you again. I suppose this is the time you have to wrestle with the controls and try to fire a shot. Take the zombies in L4D which will come at you with a vengeance. Thankfully the controls actually let you fight the zombies vs the controller in that game.

The presentation is top notch but the gameplay drags it down. I'm sure for the fans of the series who have become accustomed to the controls scheme, it's great and they should enjoy it accordingly. However, if the plan for Capcom was to open the series up for a broader audience, I don't think that'll happen. This isn't 2004 anymore Capcom....

I've always rationalized the control scheme and the camera as a way of building suspense/tension. Some people may see that as cheating, but it doesn't really bother me. The camera is zoomed in so far because they don't want you to see what's behind you. The zombies move in slowly because they want you to see their faces as they get in close to lunge and grab you. The slow aim is so you can't easy mow the enemies down when they swarm in close. RE4 was a game where turning and running was critical to survival.

I guess it isn't for everyone, but something about RE4 got my heart rate up at times and I think RE5 will be the same for me.

I adore Capcom giving
selling
us a high-quality game in the first quarter of each year this gen. Lost Planet, then DMC4, then RE5. It's a very welcome present in what's normally a terribly dry period. Was Dead Rising a Q1 title too?

Again, Capcom seem like one group who "get" this gen far more than many of the bigger western devs that get a game working at the mimimum frame rate required for playability and push their games out in a bundle in Q4. And then wonder why their balance sheets aren't so hot.

Not only RE5 but SF4 imo..

I think big 1st Q releases may become more common, I think it helped gta4 sell more than it otherwise would have.

True... Lost Planet is STILL one of the best looking games this gen with great controls. a little more chainsaw and a MUCH improved online matchmaking system and it could have been a Gears of War. ;)

but i agree with the others that RE5 is not my bag. i like complete control rather than cinematics.
