Resident Evil 5

You help her by sniping zombies on the other side.
After som killing she will run over and open the door on the ground level of the building you are in.

And I just have to ask, is it possible to kill the "bosses
(axman/chainsaw-man)
" or is it me being worthless?

It is possible, I've done it a couple times now.
They just take a while to kill. You actually HAVE to kill chainsaw-man to advance.
For chainsaw-man, I use grenades and the red barrels. When he falls to a knee, go up to him and do a melee attack. When I run out of nades and barrels, I just run back and forth so I have some distance, use the machine gun (forget the name of it) and blast his face until he falls to a knee, and do a melee attack again. Rinse and repeat. Never tried the rifle, that may be a good way to get him down quickly.
I actually have a tougher time with axeman as there seems to be more enemies in the way. But I use the same method... I use the shotgun to blast him until he goes to a knee, then I melee him.

Starting to get the hang of the inventory and controls and it's bringing back some pleasant memories of RE4. I may pick this up after all, but after I'm done with KZ2. :)

You can kill the chainsaw guy with two sniper shots directly in the head, or was it three:unsure: !

No you can't. It takes a lot of shots to the head from the rifle if you only shoot without doing anything else. It's the same with the axe guy eg rifle shots to the head take many shots also. Personally I try to use everything to make it more fun. I don't like the rinse repeat thing. I use rifle, machine gun, grenades, exploding tanks, electric transformers, knife, pistol. I've never used the knife on the miniboss's though.

Usually you can do something to stun them and knock them down and then you rush and give them a sweet punch to the face. You have to do it quite a few times, I found.

Yep, when they're on their knees that's your chance to do your "supermoves", but if you only shoot them in the head and do nothing else it takes many shots even from the rifle.

I have to agree with those that don't like the inventory controls. It adds tension but in a bad way IMO. If their intent was to evolve the series while staying true to RE4 roots they could have made the enemies much smarter for starters. As it is I feel like the biggest challenge is fumbling with the controls in the heat of action rather than fighting cunning enemies. Adding a quick knife slash would have been a welcome addition as well. And I don't feel the addition of a partner adds anything except a tacked on layer of complication.
This is the first RE game I'm not overly excited about. It looks great, but so do many games out their nowadays.

You could use the knife just like the other weapons at any time. The inventory requires prioritizing and organizing. The quick access to 4 of any item is the best inventory system of all the RE games. The old sytem is plain stupid, stop in the middle of a battle wihout getting hurt while taking your own sweet time to load weapons and use herbs? Seriously if you have trouble using the inventory system even though you can map 4 of any item to to the D-pad then you need more practice or better organization skills.

RE5 allows you to switch weapons very quickly in realtime, no stupid outdated inventory system from previous REs. There are quiet areas in RE5 where you can reorgranize your inventory if needed without worrying too much about the enemies. The only time I have problems with the inventory system is when I have to give ammo to my partner since I never map the ammo to the quick access slots, but that's by choice.

Well the first area of the demo pretty much puts you in the middle of it it without any explantion.
Anyway I was wondering if there will be any reason in the final game why you would want your partner to pick up items like gems, which seems to be an option in the demo second level?

I've played through the demo several times in online co-op...its so much fun! My only gripe with the controls is that you can't knife and move at the same time.

I've found the use of a headset to be both a blessing and curse at times...playing with friends is great because you cooperate more. But I've come across a few 'bossy' players that think they know the best way to do everything and they talk to you like you don't know what's going on, and that gets quite ANNOYING.

Then there are the players that are EXTREMELY good and fun to play with. There is one guy who discovered a way to completely bypass the part where Chris hurls Shiva across to the other building by throwing grenades down from the 2nd floor balcony to blow the lock on the door below. He then single-handedly took down the chainsaw guy, while I was busy protecting him from the other zombies. That sort of teamwork is very rewarding...and we weren't even using headsets!

Yeah that's pretty annoying, there are always going to be annoying people when you play online with strangers. To the other point, for me I find that playing with extremely good players kinda makes the game demo an easy walkthrough diminishing the challenge. If they're really good I'd rather they let me do some of the hard work instead of just single handedly taking over killing the hard to kill guys. It's better if they hold back and let the less experienced pull his own weight. Even though I could kill the minibosses all by myself, I try to give the other player a chance to get in some shots expecially when the enemy is stunned. That trick to open the gate with grenades is kinda cool, didn't know you could do that.

Huge turn off for me, I'm shocked about how clumsy the control are, I was looking for this one but I'll pass which is sad because the game looks really great.

The realtime inventory is not something they decided on , its a necessity to implement co-op. One player cannot pause the screen while two guys are playing.
Check R1 co-op, the weapon-wheel became real-time once you were playing co-op as the game cannot be paused in co-op.
Its not a progression of the inventory or an element to heighten the tension, its just a necessity if you want to implement co-op that couldn't be done away with !

Playing this demo really reminded me how outdated this game and it's mechanics/controls are. Graphics are good though.

Capcom have a far better zombie game in Dead Rising (even with it's Japanese quirks), I will be looking forward to Dead Rising 2, which might be the first Capcom zombie game to let you move and shoot at the same time, being made by western developers.

You can walk and shoot in the Outbreak games.

Speaking of "walk and shoot", I finally got around to watching that streaming video on xbox live where the Capcom marketing guy mistakenly "suggests" that you can walk and shoot in RE5. Anyway, wow. That guy CLEARLY states that the main function of the new "run and gun" control scheme is that players "no longer have to be stationary while aiming and firing".
Regardless of where you stand in the whole RE5 walky-shooty conflict, that's just messed up. At the very least, they should take the video down.

I agree with this except that the graphics didn't impress me either. I don't even necessarily have to call it outdated, it's just too boring for me. But there are plenty of people out there who wanted more after RE4, and this will likely satisfy them. And co-op will make some people happy too, I'm sure.
