Resident Evil 5

Well that wont be if it really is less than 8 hours like that links says... Re4 took like 20 hours or so? 80 minutes of cutscenes in a game that wont even last 8 hours if even worse. Than it will be like watching a movie with a little bit of gameplay in between.

Guessing you haven't played MGS4

I thought RE4 started to drag as soon as you got out of the village. Quite a few encounters would have been just as exciting if you didn't have to deal with 200 Ganados. 50 would have been fine. When I reached the island I just wanted the game to end already.
I think roughly 10 hours is plenty for a straight forward action game. There generally isn't enough variety to hold my interest for a much longer period. (Doom 3 is a prime example of this imo - it just went on and on and nothing exciting ever happened)

RE4 could be completed in 2.5 hours but first time players took around 20hrs probably because of the puzzles and exploration or maybe too high difficulty.

Red RE5 360 confirmed

In contrast to past MS bundles like the awful Halo 3 one, this one is actually a superb value, as you get RE5, SF2HDR, and a theme "free". $75+ value.

I mean, if you really like RE and dont have a next gen box yet, what a great way to "jump in", as you also get the great SF2HDR.

Although actually the red color is a negative imo, To some people it's surely not.

Resident Evil 6 to see full franchise reboot

In what is destined to be the first genuinely epic game of 2009, Resident Evil 5 is practically guaranteed to be the last of its kind, with the game’s producer, Jun Takeuchi, assuring us that a reboot is in order for the inevitable Resident Evil 6.

psextreme confirm: 360 version little bit better, probably will see on ps3 the same lacks present in the demo  I hope at least the fps are really better however capcom engine confirms its limits on ps3

Wow 80 minutes of cut scenes, that's pretty sweet. Hopefully the game will take about the same time it took to complete RE4.

Damn, only a little over 1 hour of cutscenes ? This sux...i think 4 had more (??)
DMC4 had two full hours and they barely managed to tell the story, it felt ike a lot was left out.
Hell, even the 9 hours MGS4 had felt like thez flew in no time. Anyway, this is just the cutscene fan in me talking i guess

Can't wait for this game. It is highest on my list this year :D

Well I've played throught the demo a few more times now and am getting more comfortable with the controls, but I still some possible problems.
Fo instance what happens if you have your four quick select setup just the way you want, but in the middle of heat pick a new weapon or item you need like a grenade?
You have to find a quiet corner somewhere and remap your quick select. Still seems cumbersome.
It would be nice if Capcom simply expanded the number of quick selects available to include the diagonal directions on the D-pad. That would solve a lot of problems.

Pretty interesting, he is talking about possibilities to bring back the gameplay style from earlier Resident Evil games, that Capcom is thinking about a remake of Resident Evil 2 due to the desire for that from many fans and so on.
Make it HAPPEN :D

If they make it happen I'm sure there are still going to be people whining and complaining about something else. Personally I would like to see them make RE6 based on some of the stuff from that CGI movie Degeneration.

I would ove to see them go back to their roots and make a true horror game with slower pacing. RE4 was great but more of an action game with no scares that I can remember. Tense at times, but never scary.
A modern next gen remake of Two would be ok.

That would be very nice. But a completely new Resident Evil game that would carry on the story with the gameplay style of the earlier Resident Evil games would be preferable ;).

There likely wouldn't be complaints if they would do both of course :D

Honestly, I would welcome a more traditional FPS or TPS style Resident Evil game.
The current game mechanic is just broken, the horror and fear should come from the atmosphere of the game, not from clumsy control mechanic.
Give me regenerating health and more ample ammo supply and I'll be in again, RE5 I think I'll pass.

I've played the RE games since the PSOne original. RE4 I quite liked, but after so many games wit the same flaws... no more thank you.

I think RE5 will sell quite a bit better on the xb360, as the series is still brand new on that platform and it might have more gamers who probably haven't played them before. For those it's the chance to experience what the fuzz's been about.
RE is a great series, hope RE6 brings back the glory days.

Resident Evil 5 I think will benefit most from being co-op. I can see myself playing it for that reason alone, where I would otherwise have given the game a pass. But we'll have to see how it turns out. I may try to convince my wife to try the demo with me if that has split-screen support.

By the way, just came across this - really went under my radar until now:

I've always thought it would be easy to do at least on the PS3, although I'm not even sure if this thing uses the same manner that I expected. Is this going to be a new trend?

xbox360 demo had split screen, and I'm assuming the PS3 demo is exactly the same.

The piracy scene on X360 seems really bad......I just did a search for RE 5 on mininova and got more than 20 torrents for the X360 version of the game. I wonder what will happen eventually, coz we are already seeing devs shifting away from the PC due to piracy  ! and now X360 is getting a dose of piracy too.

In a thread in the tech forum here I'm hearing that new 360s don't have flashable DVD drives, so maybe new 360s will be piracy-resistant, like the new PSPs.
