There is a trailer of the new Rayman game for Wii up on IGN. It's been there for some time, but I haven't seen much discussion of it here:

Looking at the screenshots, this games looks a little more "next-gen" to me than most of the other Wii offerings I've seen so far. It's hard to tell, though, given the quality of the screens, which scenes are realtime and which are pre-rendered.

I agree. So far Ubisoft is definitely showing better gfx than the rest of the 3rd party efforts.

IGN has also posted an interview with Rayman creator Michel Ancel.

IGN Wii: Fantastic. So what do you think of the Wii hardware and the innovative controller?

Michel Ancel: The hardware is perfect to develop games. It's easy to program so you can concentrate on developing new ideas and pushing your gameplay. The controller is definitely innovative. This controller opens new ways to play games. As gamers, we will rediscover how to enjoy videogames. As developers, we must rethink our controls and gameplay to push the interactivity and immersion even further.

Visually, I'll compare it to Pikmin 1 and 2, though they were some of the more impressive looking Gamecube titles.

Too bad I've never cared for Rayman, even when Rayman 2 was called the best platformer of all time.
