Qcore from PSN

Europe's Qore dubbed Official PlayStation Magazine HD

Back in September we got word that a European version of Qore would hit sometime in 2009. We now know a few more details regarding the service. Revealed by a Future Publishing job listing, the digizine will be called "Official PlayStation Magazine HD." It's not as original as "Qore," but at least it'll easily find its audience.

Unless Sony wants to try something different with Qore, I also think that OPM HD is a better name. There is no need to keep inventing new name and brand for no good reason (Qore doesn't even have "Playstation" in its name).

Qore doesn't even mean anything! Bad branding IMO. Surely it's better to market it as a magazine then almost disguise it as a game?

It reminds me somewhat of Phil's keynote: http://www.gamesindustry.biz/articles/phil-harrison-it-s-time-for-a-change-in-games-development

I think they didn't quite know where they wanted to shoot for and have a name Qore to start afresh. That gave them some leeway to experiment but unfortunately, they didn't go far. OPM HD implies that they already have something fixed in mind. As a result, OPM HD should gain traction faster.

If they want to keep the "Qore" name, they should persue more experiments.

EDIT: Insomniac's R2 seems to be doing something similar. It can be said that R2 is developed together with the user community. Our play data and feedback drives their priority. Not sure where all these will end up. I do think Insomniac may want to have a voice to consolidate the user feedback. Right now it's a little hap-hazard even when things are heading in the right direction.
