GBA:SP is inferior to PSX...so another selling point!

GB Classic was inferior to Game Gear and Lynx too... ;)

Don't let brand loyalty cloud your judgement.

You missunderstood me! I was talking about architecture part! If PSP is based on PSX and is going to come out in 2004 obviuosly it will be superior to GBA tech wise....!

psp is CELL base with 4-16 MB embended dram

and my point which you apparently still can't grasp is that better technology isn't necessarilly going to make it sell better. Did Lynx and GG sell better than GB Classic? I think not. They are architecturaly superior aren't they? and they got their A$$ handed to them.

There is a worlds difference between Sony's handheld and any other previous handhelds.....Sony represents most serious threat to GBA...

Is the display in PSP a LCD TFT?
Why won't Sony use an OLED display? What would be the power consumption of a 4,5 inch 16:9 OLED screen be compared to LCD?

Well, think of all the SNES/NES games Nintendo has been shoveling onto the GBA.. Sony has a MASSIVE back catalog of PSX games that they could do the same with.. and I'm assuming the GPU in this thing will support bilinear filtering/mip mapping, so thats already a huge graphics upgrade.

I don't think Sony will have any trouble coming up with software for this thing..

Its also worth looking at the timing of its release...

Its not going to be GBA:SP vs PSP, its going to be GBA2 vs PSP.

Nobody thinks that Nintendo aren't going to release a new GB by then do they? It will be very interesting, Nintendo are starting to get the underdog mentality back, they are not going to let Sony take away their precious GameBoy franchise. They have the name, the existing library (even if a new GB uses disc (IMHO it won't), they will add a GBA cart slot), the technology (Nintendo have alot of money in portable RnD) and the incentive to spend billions to ensure Sony are kept out. They lost the console market, they won't lose the handheld market without a fight.

On the software front, Nintendo have NES/SNES/N64/GB/GBC/GBA maybe even GC, Sony have PSX and maybe PS2.... Both will support connection to their respective consoles.

We live in interesting times....

Did Lynx and GG sell better than GB Classic?

GB classics wasn't doing too well either, it was in a brink of death, till the thing called Pokemon suddenly show up out of no where and save GB and Nintendo with it. Though Pokemon success didn't happend overnight or in a week, that virus, never go away even till today :)

Anyway in regard to N-Gage, I always thought N-Gage is serious threat to GBA (not in Japan), considering mobile phone is popular, and the gaming part of mobile phone is pretty popular too.

But I don't know much about N-Gage, is N-Gage an open system or does it follow consoles like royalties system ? Heck I don't even know the spec of this thing. All I know is that its a mobile phone with built in game system.

I guess N-gage's memory stick system? has it limitations... So Sony has an edge there...
But I really think that PSP has an advantage over Nintendo's GBA: marketing. Seriously, Sony's PR is THAT good that it can sell millions of bags filled with shit for 5 dollars...

I like the way you phrased that...it's true though :)

yeah cuz everything with Sony written on it is a bag of shit isn't it, PCEngine

I like buying stuff that's based on quality more than hype. ;)

 yeah, whatever. As i said, sony is 100% hype and 0% quality. millions upon millions of gamers around the world have bought and KEEP buying their products COMPLETELY out of hype. u know, they just buy the thing then as soon as they get home and open the box they can smell the shit... that happened to approximately 100 million people who bought PS1 (and keep buying it after 10 years) and also to the 50 million people who bought PS2. u see, all those units sold never get used. Sony just sold them and people are using them as cheapo DVD or CD players...
Also all those copies of games sold are just used as freesbies or for decoration... cuz they're not quality titles, they're just hype... some of them are blank CD's or DVD's in fact, who needs content when u've got DA HYPE...
YAWN YAWN YAWN

edit: to stay on topic..... THEREFORE this PSP will be a piece of shit based on hype and will only sell to Sony drones attracted by Sony's evil powers.
