PSP Go

One useful improvement that would be nice to see with the PSP Go is the ability to suspend more than one game. Without UMD, it should be possible to suspend any and all of the games you play and save state to flash. Like the iPhone, this would make gaming on the go much more convenient.

I honestly think it's in Sonys best interest to persue both types of games. Both cheap pick up and play puzzle games (like iPod/Phone and Cell Phone games) and bigger budget titles along side those.

Yes, I read somewhere, can´t find a link right now, that Sony is actively encouraging developers to make games that are shorter than he normal UMD titles and easier to pick up and play for just five minutes.

Builtin GPS would be nice. That is about the only reason I would by one.

I already have a PSP 2000. I'm don't consider this PSP (with a smaller screen) as an upgrade for me.

I agree that it will probably be download only, but I don´t see any connection to the PS4, pretty different market IMO. I also expect the PS4 for to come much later but that´s a different discussion.

The PSP 2 will probably be initially sold at a loss or near break even, and the same will probably go for the PS4. So if they release the PS4 when they can sell the PSP 2 with a profit, they can spread the risk should either one of them not do so well. And they can focus their marketing on one at a time.

They screwed this announcement up, didn't they?! Presumably that's a section of their E3 presentation which is going to fall flat now everybody has heard and seen it.

I think whatever success iPhone games have had is due to low-cost and easy, pick-up-and-play games which you could play in short durations of time throughout the day

If you play the games for longer periods, the battery runs flat pretty fast, especially the more advanced graphical games afaik.

Right but even if battery life wasn't an issue, I think most people would still be more interested in these lighter games rather than say a full-featured RPG or a GTA type of game on a phone.

Does anybody know how umd games are going to be handled? Is everything going to go up on the PS Store? How are they going to deal with customers who bought UMDs but now want to play those games on their PSP Go?

Also the name could use some work. It should be PSPx or something more original and memorable.

$250 is a lot for a handheld game but isn't that out of line when compared with an iPhone and iPod Touch. (of course that could change next week with the announcement of the third-generation iPhone).

Certainly, it won't be able to run the variety of apps. that the iPhone/iPod Touch can but then it will have games like GT Mobile and AC2 that the iPhone won't have either.

Of course, the way things are evolving, it may be that console games are best left to consoles and that on the go, simpler games which are fine to play for a few minutes at a time may be what people end up preferring.

If you want to play a UMD game, play it on a PSP-x000, which they are continuing to sell.

There are certainly a lot of UMD games available for download on the store.

If I remember right Sony press said all future PSP games are digitally distributed at PSN Store. Most games(?) come in UMD as well, some might go to a digital-only route. Current PSN Store has a dedicated PSP Games folder full of big games.

I think 250$ is just to much the PSP3000 is 170$ from amazon right now.

Best say 250$ now and then drop later if you can than vice versa.

Not that I was in the market for a PSP-Go, since I barely use my old PSP (PSP-1000?) but €249 seems very steep to me. And I just spent more than that on importing a T-Mobile G1 from the US :)

Does the Go have a USB port do you need a Memory Stick for your own movies and music?

I assume it is going to use the same usb connector the current models use. It also has 16gb of onboard memory so you don't need anything else. IF you wanted extra memory then it uses memory stick micro (m2)
