PS3 sales

The problem is that the X360 core is $299... and it does sell almost as well now as the PS2 which costs $129 or so?

Yes but what is the ratio of the core to the premium? I think MS once said the Core is around 10-15% of the total 360 count.

Laa-Yosh you're throwing me off... was that last post a question or a statement?

You're freaking me out man - you're too worked up about these shipment/sales figures. :p

The exact opposite - I don't even know how much the PS2 costs :p

that goal isn't in danger, it's unreachable , they sold 3,4M in US , cut that number in half and you'll get EU sales (and that's very generous) add Japan and other minor countries and you're halfway to their target.

For the millionth time, NPD does not report total sales, they are around 80%.

Assume 1million sold in Dec, that.s 4.4, extrapolate to full numbers that's 5.5 + EU = 8.25

Add Canada, JPN, and AUS together, you're in the neighborhood of 9million sold through. If retailers have 1million units in stock worldwide, MS will have made their goal.

I dunno, it'll be close that's for sure. Depends if EU is really 40-50% of the US sales.

PS2 sold > 1 million in Nov 2001 at $300. I doubt another $100 would cut sales in half, especially considering inflation.

The answer is pretty straightforward IMO, there's a demand problem, not a supply problem.

Since we're using this thread for November sales numbers: some software sales

Gears of War >1m
Final Fantasy XII 896k
Zelda Twilight Princess 412k
Guitar Hero II 356k

Ah well I read it wrong then. You just seem so intent on solving the 'riddle of 10 million consoles.' :)

Whatever the case, MS is doing alright for themselves. They're not selling out of units as fast as they're put on the shelf... but the sales are steady and strong. My experience has been in any store I walk into, there are 360's available in decent amounts. But quite often, I'm also witness to a transaction involving one of those consoles being purchased. I'm quite curious to see what the 4Q numbers end up being when it's all said and done, but on an anecdotal level, it seems like they're in a healthy place to me: Decent stocks; steady sales.

As for PS2, it's $129 right now.

EU only had 1.7 million shipped as of October. That's straight from MS themselves. 750,000 addition sold through over the shipped numbers is pushing it.
