[PS3] Metal Gear Solid 4 *spoilers*

Fan or no fan, anybody who looks at this game with a critical eye can spot quite a lot of things that makes this far from perfection.

I dont think there is a perfect game out there, but im getting tired of hearing MGS fans hailing a game as perfect or as the biggest game this generation.

When i read people saying that MGS4 is the biggest game of this generation, in various threads on B3D (NPD, etc etc) it makes me feel like im on a gameFAQs forum full of twelve year old boys needing justification for buying a PS3. Frankly, you have to be downright ignorant to make that statement.

Did you like MGS1, MGS2 and MGS3 a lot? Doesn't sound like it.

I think you fail to realize that MGS games, to a large number of people, are the best games on consoles or even in general. That has nothing to do with justifying anything at all and I must tell you that it sounds very anti-PS3 what you said. My justification for buying a PS3 is to play the bloody games. Just like it was for the 360, and how it isn't for the Wii as I don't want or have one.

I don't need game X to make me sleep at night to be exclusive. I need game X to be amazing to my taste and MGS4 is.

Besides, no game is perfect. Can you not see I was joking?

I couldn't. A smiley ;) or :p would have softened your (inaudible) internet-tone and changed the nature of the post from its current 'this is how it is' assertion to a lighter-hearted personal point on your take on MGS4.

...
Whaddya mean, downs of MGS4? That game is f*ckin' perfection! :p

(As long as you're a fan of the long running series ;))
'90%*' of communication is non-verbal. On the 'net, we have to adapt to the lack of body and tonal communication by using other elements, like formatting and smileys.

*Or roughly 'lots'. It's not really something we can peg at an accurate figure.

Fair enough. I just think it would have been too idiotic to be taken seriously.

Don't sweat it, I doubt many people thought anything about it, I took it as tongue in cheek. Ignore the hyper reactive rude people who rant for no apparent reason, they deserve mod backhand for behavior IMO.

Oh yea ;)

That's the problem though - different people read things in different ways. We have to try to accomodate them all on an open discussion platform.

Quite frankly these last few blasé comments show an immature disregard for the complexities and consequences of the written word and I will be dishing out reprimands to those who think a few casual smileys are all that's needed to gloss over some snarky remarks. Append a sticky-out-tongue smiley here...

One guy expressed his opinion for a game in the appropriate thread, no apology is needed unless he broke a forum rule.

The other guy was just an ass, no two ways to read it.

For Ostepop, from the forum rules:

The thing is some people are indeed biased, but just like opinions, bias is not uncommon, nor extraordinary.

Just don't waste your, and everybody's time arguing with someone just to try to make him/her agree with your POV. It's useless. Just state, politely, your point of view on a subject and leave it at that. You can ask someone to expand on a subject, if you wish. But that would be about all.

Sorry Shifty! Was just trying to lighten the mood.

Konami Announces 1 Million Members for Metal Gear Online

http://ps3.ign.com/articles/926/926632p1.html

Konami's online action game, "METAL GEAR ONLINE," has gained over 1 million members worldwide since the launch of the service in June 2008. To commemorate this achievement, Konami will launch a special campaign, "METAL GEAR ONLINE: Commemorative Campaign," that will officially begin on November 25, 2008, awarding reward points to gamers who access METAL GEAR ONLINE during the promotion. These reward points can be used to purchase new online gear from the in-game reward shop.

I haven't played since August. Now that all the new and great games are launching, I guess Konami need to remind people of MGO.

Going back in SP and MP pretty soon :)

I'm thinking at least a week of MGS4 exclusive in my agenda. The thing is, as much as i played MGO, i never managed to be anything other than a noob that gets headshot'd by everybody, still fun though ^_^

Contrary to that, MGO was the only online game(other than that BF:BC Demo) in which I could actually make a difference and do well :D ! I would have kept on playing but the SP campaign is so cool I can't stop myself from playing MGS every time I pop-in the disc

Japanese store seems to have an MGS4 demo up right now (!)
