[PS3] Metal Gear Solid 4 *spoilers*

I think Kojima made it very clear in one of the interviews that He thinks that with this final installment of MGS, the fans want volume, more story, longer cutscenes and more Codec conversations(though it was seriously cut down this time).Atleast that is how he interpreted fans' expectations and that also justifies the way the cutscenes are in the game

It's obviously one of the biggest games this gen, and it is and will be a huge financial success. At the same time, I think the design is polarizing among the gaming community, because it really stresses the boundaries of what classifies as a video game.

More content is good. More draggy content is not so good.

He can easiyl condense the scenes and add more :)-P) if given the time. Didn't he say 50Gb is not enough. There are stuff there were cut out due to the space limit. I want to see those too.

Yes, but the original statement was made because he was forced to omit content from the final product. So there should be extras in the cutting room.

I think kojima was told by Sony to hype the space issue, that or he is just very lazy with disc space managment. There is nothing in MGS4 that should account for the huge amount of disc space used except for the uncompressed 7.1 audio. Then again that may account for a huge amount

The audio is 5.1 max, and while the output is uncompressed I highly doubt the samples on the disk are. Regardless, there is a lot of content in the game, audio and otherwise.

No, I was refering to the EDGE MGS4 preview (or review). The author implied that Kojima had to leave stuff out of the final game. It could be because there was no space, no time, or it could also be because they don't fit into the final flow -- just like you have deleted scenes in real movies.

If true, I want to see what those are.

No doubt about that ! MGS4 is still my most revered game to date. The production value, game play and everything else has so much depth.

As for Kojima's 50Gb complains, it is conceivable that with "everything in", it could exceed the limit (minus storage for security needs). According to the net, it stands at 32Gb (with 28Gb FMV and audio).

I was replaying it last night, and man, Act 2 is so awesome ! I found places I hadn't seen in my first playthrough :) (missed it somehow) and it was action-packed and intense! Had a blast !
This is the area that I was in:

(not a very good screenshot, but I was busy killing them ;) )

One question: The PMC soldiers just kept respawning. Does it go on forever or , like the other areas, they stop spawning after a while? I blasted them rocket launcchers n all for a lot of time, but they kept coming and eventually I moved on. I kept waiting for the militia(or rebels) to shout" yes! We did it !" Like they did in the powrstation which signals that the fight is over, but even after half an hour or so, they just kept coming. DId anybody win that fight? I would like to know coz I had one hell of a time there blasting helicopters out of the sky  !

Yus you can win the fight...blow up the control tower (or whatever) and your friends will take over.

Yes, wasn't there a helicopter hovering outside the building too ?

I fought the PMC soldiers here, ran out of ammo and went elsewhere to stock up. When I revisited the site, it had already been taken over by the rebels. :)

I fought the rebels for a few moments before I realized that they were on my side.

EDIT: Konami revealed 2 new MGS4 weapons a few days ago. You type 2 passwords to obtain "The Boss's Patriot" and "Thor":

What control tower?! There were two lookout towers(one visible in the screenshot) I went inside the building and looked up everything! Well, some other day.The screenshot's name says "CONFINEMENT FACILITY".

Ya! i blasted it out of the sky with my rocket launcher! After a while another chopper showed-up, I blasted it too! Even took sequential screenshots of the rocket hitting the chopper and then different stages of the explosion !

I finally bought a PS3, with the MGS4 bundle, so I got to sit down and play this this weekend.

Really impressive game, the graphics are pretty amazing, and the cinematics extremely impressive. My first play session was a little frustrating but I'm starting to get the hang of it now, just passed the part where you meet Drebin, that was cool :D

This is the 3rd time he's said that this would be his last MGS. And in the meantime he's had countless ideas for other games that never get made, because he'll make another MGS if his fans ask him to. I want to see what he can create if he could make what ever he wanted.

It certainly is a great game. Let us know when you've finished and your overall impressions on completion.

Enjoy! :)

Congrats Scooby ! You are in for one hell of a ride  ! and welcome to the ps3 community !;)

Thanks! I'm just hopin I get enough time to finish it, we set the PS3 up on the upstairs LCD rather than in my gaming lair (basement), so it's gonna be a battle to get my play time in!

I'm really impressed with the PS3 user interface by the way, I love being able to change the colour scheme of the background, and the media sharing is excellent, it connected right up to my wireless network and within seconds I was sharing video from the PC upstairs, heads and shoulders above the 360's implementation.

Have fun with MGS4. Enjoy the ups and downs ;-)

Welcome to the PS3 community. You're just in time for a series of public beta too (R2, LBP, KZ2, MS2 [demo ?], Home) :p
