Sports games do multiple shadows due to multiple light sources during night games in stadiums, like this:

It's not related to AO in that GoW shot, the shadows are on flat ground that should have similar ambient exposure to the non shadowed areas of ground. There must be two shadow casting light sources in that pic, or it could just be a glitch. Or maybe it's a temporary effect, like that big dudes attack creates a big light source that temporarily ads a second shadow casting light.
That doesn't look like AO at all. If anything I would say multiple lightsources casting shadows (2). Although how the shadows fall and direction makes it seem really strange.
There is nothing special about that, haven't you played any sports games lately? If played at night, all players (atleast on all the EA sports games) will cast atleast 4 shadows from various spotlights at all times...
Well first I really suggest you to watch the trailer since it contains the needed ingredients for you to get excited about, or not. But it worked for me, so I'll share my reason with you.Ive havent looked at the video yet but based on the screenshots
nothing there is amazing at all, and considering the games lineage
its actually pretty crappy!!
can someone please so a single shot + explain why its impressive cause its obviously going over my head
yes perhaps I need to see it in motion,Well first I really suggest you to watch the trailer since it contains the needed ingredients for you to get excited about, or not. But it worked for me, so I'll share my reason with you.
yes perhaps I need to see it in motion,
btw I assume your monitor is calibrated completely different to mine, those screenshots are terrible
the top one is an overbloomed greenish/bluish mess. I can make out a chain I think + perhaps a person on the right of the screen, but the rest ???!! ( is it a person swimming upstream? )
I've just done a lot of frame-by-frame watching of the 720p trailer from the NA PSN store. I think technically it's not far removied from other similar titles like DMC. At 44 seconds we see a very flat, textured ground. When the skeletons bundle Kratos, there's no shadowing. Indeed, there's little shadowing overall. The foliage is something special though. Loads of it, highly detailed with loads of variety. There appears to be a 'Paint effect' post process, applied alongside motion/DOF blur. Detail is obscured at a distance, but is extremely clear in close-up. This gives a false idea of low-quality texture-work IMO. Remove the effect and I think you'd see something (in the scenery) that rivals anything out there. However it's inclusion is a welcome artistic choice. We want photo-surrealism, afterall Technically it looks like lots and lots of carefully crafted texture planes, most apparent when the cyclops is hanging from the tree. It's also dithered. the lightning flash at 55s drew this to my attention.
You may want photo surrealism, but I want photo-realism.
I'm really upset that they once again decided to go for a cartoonish look.
****ing amen to that.Personnaly, I think the flood of 30fps titles is misguiding us in our expectations we have in regards to screenshots of this game. I applaud any team that is willing to go for less impressive graphics if it rewards the gameplay and smoothness of the game.
We don't know yet if this game will run at 30 or 60 (or the native resolution of the game), so we're still guessing on the trade-off in this case. If the trade-off of having less impressive visuals come at the reward of great fluid gameplay and lots of action on screen, I think they are spot on and should be applauded for that alone.
As great as HS looked - the overall performance of the game was a shame and should have been ripped because of it. We are here to play games and have fun, not watch slide shows and marvel at screenshots.
It's like the Brumak. I hoped they'd eventually add some depth to the chains, but they didn't. At least they're using normal mapping on Kratos' chains. Also, it's good to see that his extended chains are fully modeled in detail. I would have expected them to cut corners there, since they move so fast, but they are so far looking great in screenshots.Little picky but I hope they can improve the chains around this forearms. At least use some kind of displacement/parallax mapping since its a 3rd person game with QTE which means we'll be seeing a lot of the character.
I never said it was a bad game, I took issue with whoever was making the gameplay out to be the best thing since sliced bread.
I dislike the QTE's that are part of normal gameplay, ie not boss fights. eg. when the only way to kill an enemy is by going through a QTE.
With regards to the screens on that site. The graphics are looking better than the reveal trailer. Is it still running in 1080p native?
I wish that you'd be able to set a different difficulty for those button pressing sequences .... I'm barely used to the playstation controller and I can't press the triangle button in a fraction of a second. I have to think about which button that is. I'm ripping through god of war easily, but the only hard parts for me is doing some of those events.

You do realize that the Reveal trailer on the VGA's was all the same footage as this trailer, in bits and pieces? Looking better...lol!

That is lightning making it look like that.
Yes, they were taken during the lightning strikes.Isn't that during lightning strike or?
Becouse if that is the default environment bloom then it still is horrible looking and extremly overexposed.
