It largely is - not sure if that part is locked behind a paywall or not...in theory was GoT not released after the 'all games need to be PS5 compatible' deadline?https://www.eurogamer.net/articles/...t-of-tsushimas-ps5-exclusive-features-at-gbp9
I'm confused.
So it's not a system wide feature to support PS4 saves on PS5 and Sony allows their own game to requires a micro transaction to enable the ps4 saves support?
TBH I'm losing my faith in Sony, I guess it's unfortunate in that you don't always know where you will be and the technical issues you may encounter. MS are a software (I'm not talking games here) company that have lots of experience in upgrading from previous versions to new versions...Sony on the other hand not so. They obviously realised there were issues when they started saying 'games from this point need to be PS5 compatible' - I guess the warning signs were there.
But overall as I customer (and a big fan) I feel really badly let down, the lack of true exclusives moving forward is a real shame. I want devs to have unrestricted access to the tech Cerny sold me on. Instead we have the games restricted my all the tech Cerny said we would be moving away from.
Now we have payments for up gen enhancements, I do appreciate this is extra work (unlike the MS solution) but if someone has already bought the game then I feel they should get the upgrade. Even if it were behind the PS+ subscription it wouldn't be so bad...but man, they are really coming across as PS3#2, a massive console with great tech but not going to be fully utilised until later in the generation.
I personally would still buy it (because I love their exclusives), but it's only increased my reluctance to buy 3rd party games in their ecosystem - the PS5 is simply an exclusives console to me...I will only get PS+ while I can get it super cheap (I have a method of getting it for around £1pm).
