Nintendo E3 2012 Presentation thread

I'm embarrassed to say this, but Lego City actually looked pretty cool.

Yap.
ZombiU looks really cool too.
Let's hope it's not something shalow like a glorified tech demo.

ZombiU did look cool yeah. Also, Rayman!!

*Edit: Btw, Luigi's Mansion for Nintendoland/Wuu looks like bags of fun. For like half an hour anyway, dunno what longevity you can get from such simple gameplay. Little kids would love it though I bet.

We grownups want a proper Luigi's Mansion however! NOT a 3DS version. Wuu version!

To me, it was pretty obvious that the clapping was coming from the game itself, and not the presenters trying to pass fake clapping as legit.

I bet Nintendoland will be bundled with the console.
I mean, who's going to purchase that?

Hurm, I wouldn't say it was quite that disappointing. *Edit: after all, it was now confirmed two wuupads per Wuu is possible. :)

It wasn't a GREAT showing, but it wasn't terrible either. Some of the games looked interesting, and a bunch looked terribly lame, basically anything social/workout based IMO.

...Is that Pilot Wings I see btw post-show? Looks great.

The fact they refuse to talk hardware probably shows the box itself isn't very powerful though. It's so hard to judge image quality from streaming internet video, but it seems decently able to render two screens at once at least. We'll have to wait for some hands-on impressions from the show floor first I suppose.

Awful...

I'm pretty stunned how mundane and sterile the presentation was. The screen on the controller seems totally pointless.

Saw this posted on Joystiq:

The product version also adds a TV button, positioned next to the power button, that turns the Wii U into an infrared TV remote, Iwata revealed.

If they fully flesh that functionality out I could see the WiiPad being popular with A/V types. Game system for the kids, fancy TV remote for mom and dad?

Cheers

Agreed.

Anyway, seems like everyone feels like hating everything, but for me, the Nintendo presser was pretty awesome. A lot of really good stuff. I am not quite convinced that the Wii U pad is as great an addition as proper motion tracking is, but there's a lot of potential for good gameplay, and I've seen a lot of really neat stuff.

Still watching Sony now, but definitely feel Nintendo did a great job.

I was pretty much dead on the money with the expectations in my post.

Like anticipated Pikmin U uses the sub screen for an overhead view, not very interesting, but it retains WiiRemote functionality which is good in my point of view. No specs what so ever (obvious). And confirmation for 2 Upads in the future.

Is really weird... not a single application of the sub screen surprised, much of those uses i thought about even before the WiiU was officially unveiled. 3rd party support is really concerning, mostly ports with frivolous uses of the touch screen and not increased graphic fidelity. Everyone interested in those game have played them already.

As people on twitter are saying, no EA support, no Call of Duty, $60 games like Arkham City and ME3 that are going to be selling next to $20 PS360 versions on Black Friday...

Just terrible.

Indeed. As expected some studios are falling in the pretty cheap gimmick trap with the gamepad.

To some extend as Nintendo has already: the wiimote, the hardcore pad + many accessories I wonder if they may have gone with a plain tablet

Mass Effect is there. Madden and co. are no brainers and get ported to most everything so some support will be there.

But yes, the sentiment is there a lukewarm conference that begged for more excitement that a new console always brings. A bit early to start worrying thought.
