Nintendo E3 2012 Presentation thread

It's not started yet, but since I'm a Wii bit excited (pun slightly intended... ;)), I'm making one ahead of time.

9AM PDT is like...6PM CET, yes? Just so I don't get my schedule mixed up.

Any of you guys pumped for this?! I am! :D

I'm hoping they'll disclose hardware specs, final price, release date and lots of AAA 3rd party games for the Wii U, along with a new 3DS with (at least) 2 analog thumbsticks.

If the new 3DS is really just a 3DS XL for old people and little kids, then I think people at Nintendo have gone stupid.

Why would they disclose hardware specs? That goes against their MO since the DS launch. As for specs, they do need to disclose the device wireless range, battery life time and the possibility of multiple U pads. Camera resolution would be nice, i wonder if there's sufficient to do facial recognition. Could be great to point the controller to your face and get the profile loaded. What plans do they have for storage solution, if they embrace DD then they should offer the option for the user to connect a Hard Drive.

Some clarification on control feature politics. What i mean is if there would be some established rule set. Like for example a demand for every game to be playable on the subs screen alone. That would be nice if its forced but 3rd parties would be really annoyed.

I would like a 3DS with 2 sticks but given is Nintendo that would be against it's ways. It's like a 40/60 chance of happening.

At least Pikmin will be shown, i want to see what use they give the Upad, because it has some important implications for the strategy genre in consoles. Maybe this genre finally could flourish in these platforms. I hope is not something obvious like rendering a top down view in the sub-screen.

And what type of cradle interaction if any? I mean a resurrection of the WiiConnect 24 concept but with the Upad resting in the cradle. The system is idle but if it detects motion in the room through the camera the sub screen lights up and displays status messages, like for example if theres mail, updates, invitations, etc.

Pretty hyped, last chance for E3 to not suck and what I've been waiting for LOL.

I fully expect by now the graphics to look like 360/PS3 only. Yes, it's come down to that. Would love to be surprised.

Any price or release date info would be nice but unexpected.

Why would they disclose hardware specs?

I didn't say they would, I said I'm hoping for.
Nonetheless, the lack of hardware specs disclosure during the last E3 drove to lots of criticism and investor anger (and shares plummeted accordingly).

Everyone thought (and still thinks) that "if they're not saying how powerful it is, it's because it's really weak", because that's how it happened with the Wii and 3DS.
Unless the console actually is weak (which would rain fire on the company, TBH), I think they should disclose hardware specs: GFLOPS, Triangles/s, amount of memory, clock speeds, number of CPU cores, etc.

Wuupad RGB camera is probably VGAish in nature, IE 640*480. Those sensors are likely to be dirt cheap yet still sufficiently sharp to be useful, and also, a higher rez would be taxing since it's relying on a wireless connection.

Ahh... so wishful thinking on your part regarding specs :) Low chance of happening still.

The reason the stock dived in the previous conference was not the absence of hardware figures. It had more to do on how poorly they handled the presentation. It was so badly threaded, a lot of people during the conference got the impression that it was an add on device for the existing Wii, due to how little emphasis was payed to the console itself. And incredible blunder one would expect a company investing millions on a device would not incur into.

8 minutes for the 1st Party "meh" New Super Mario Bros V1.4, and then they get to the 3rd parties.
I like that.

Hilarious when old guys in suits try to be cool about videogames (re. Warner Bros boss being introduced.)

The batman demo was cringy. It's like overcomplicating controls. What was it about Mario that can't be done on the current Wii?

two e3's and still not a damn clue of wii u's power. unbelievable.

maybe they show zelda later so we have SOMETHING to go on.

Yeah, Sing took 5 minutes more time than it should.

3DS news is for tomorrow, though.
