so the value of the overall environment they are providing to US costumers could be significant greater than in others territories.

Oh, I fully expect that to be the case.

Doesn't everybody? MS is clearly going to put an even greater emphasis on general entertainment with their next system, again.. that's their entire purpose of entering the market. And, as you mentioned, the EU is so fragmented that it's extremely difficult to pull partners together to provide the same kind of monopolistic product they can provide to the US consumer.

It's always remarkable chatting with UK chaps on Live and finding out they don't have access to the same apps or services that make the 360 and Live a great value proposition for me.

I'd imagine they would be working hard to make a more equivalent ecosystem this time around for all their customers, but I'm sure the overall environment offered to US costumers will be noticeably superior.

Is also the fault of MS after all these negative leak wait to announce it is wrong, especially if the specifications are true.
MS should announce now and try to absorb the blow instead of staying silent for months while Epic, etc. .. sing the praises of the power of the competitor.

disagree

you do not react to your competitor in that way. You stay the course, follow your plan, be prepared to release they way you want. The negativity is just people being people, it's a temporary perception, it's not real.

I realize in the age of social media diarrhea, people feel compelled to dismiss or attack at a moment's notice but that is weak and shallow. Strength is in the quiet calm before the storm. ;)

The European public is very interested in the power and exclusive of a console as well to the price everything else is secondary.

perhaps but since the games will look pretty much the same it comes down to games you want, services, experience and where your friends are.

MS MUST improve the EU online services that are available in NA

News from Kotaku here.

Most relevant ones:

-Controllers for the next Xbox as well as prototype versions of both Microsoft's new, powerful console and the machine's new, mandatory Kinect sensor have been in the hands of game creators since last month.

-The new controller, as we reported more than a year ago, is apparently a little smaller than the existing 360 one.
The new Xbox controller doesn't have any major new input interfaces either, from what we understand
Well, people are talking about some mystery stripes, regarding the controllers.

I shall see the stripes.

Well, I'm going on a safari, and I expect to see a Durango.

Today, specifically, and out of sheer chance, I watched a documentary about great migrations and there were zebras. I really did, believe it or not.

Hope this is not a subliminal message due to massive migrations that could occur if the console is not hardcore enough xDDDD

Back on subject, after having GameStop hyping the console, today's news says it seems that the new gamepad's characteristics are meant to be kept secret.

Possibly used like on prototype autos to help disguise the true lines of the product or the patterns are meant to potentially help MS track down any possible leaks.

I would think the stripes could be unique patterns giving MS good knowledge of who it went to, smart idea if so. I do wish they would add buttons near where your fingertips hit the grip, but I guess different hand sizes would be an issue.

Heh no, the semi-accurate.com Charlie. He was touting Oban=next box SOC.

Superslim was still 40nm/45nm if I'm not mistaken, so another revision coming?

22nm? wouldn't that be quite aggressive?

I do not think if the leaks are true the power difference exists and will be difficult to hide.Unless you blind even the most casual easily seen worse texture, lower resolutions and less graphic effects ;)
However surely MS needs to improve the live in Europe and introduce new exclusive AAA if they want to sell to us here.

Given that the most successful current gen console in Europe is the least powerful and sporting one of the largest disparity in graphical prowess against its competitors, I don't see where you get your evidence that Europe cares about visuals above everything else especially in comparison to other regions.

Most casuals don't care or don't know about the level of visual disparity between consoles unless it practically huge. Most don't visit forums or web sites and uses side by side comparisons to product shop. For the most part, you are probably not a casual if you are that invested in determining performance differences.

let's revisit this in a year and see if average consumers can tell ... I'll wager the answer is no.

Fellow members here and Digital Foundry? of course but we are but a small minority of the market. :D

If we haven't had enough with GameStop saying that Durango is hot, apparently Microsoft are touching the console.

You took this one quote as being "Microsoft are touching the console"?

Ubisoft Montreal CEO Yannis Mallat said:
“aligned with what Sony announced.”

Yeah, that's a heck of a stretch, no?

The current rumored specs are well within the range of being aligned with Sony's PS4. So I don't take that as proof as Microsoft making any technical changes.

It's just a play on words, I don't believe that rumour, actually, it makes no sense to me they are tweaking the console right now.

However, that word game aligns with how Xbox users perform in bed, according to a very recent study -news from today-, so what would you expect from me?

It is a stretch when the originak quote mentions sharing always online and social feature specifically. Nothing about hardware

Who writes this stuff? Who is reporting that MS is tweaking Durango as the article list no such reports.

Going deeper into the site produces articles with stuff like this.

It's not a resounding victory for the Xbox 720, though. The Sony PS4 has at the very least a more powerful sounding GPU. The Xbox 720 GPU will have 12 cores, the PS4's 18. However, now that chipset cores are becoming so 'plentiful', the number of cores is not a definitive indicator of power. We'll have to wait for benchmarks to surface to find out which really has the greater grunt.
