Nice dashboard walkthrough(doesn't use Kinect, only the controller). It's about 7 minutes long, but he runs through some of it really quickly...

Both those vowels sound the same short 'u' (under, umbrella, rust) in those words. 'Love' = luv and 'dumb' = dum. ;)
Thanks for the clarification, Shifty. I always pronounce love as lof, and my pronunciation, like actual love is not easily shaken.

Your pronunciation seems to have the sweetness factor but I think that it depends on the accent of your area. There are so many accents in the British Isles, some even sound like the romance a, e, i, o, u. I mean, the vowels sound similar to... say, Spanish.

So love might be for you like pronouncing the schwa sound, as I understand it.

I am so used to pronounce it lof... even if my accent is sweet and musical -or so they told me- when speaking English, but luv sounds fun to pronounce, I shall try.

A couple of videos on the subject -in the second video it sounds more like luv, especially when pronouncing the entire sentence-:

When I say love everybody understands me perfectly. My tongue is lower -my mouth open medium- when I pronounce it and I move it toward the middle.

On another note, this is the white Xbox One some fortunate people can have at home.

A couple more photos of the Xbox launch team model. This one would be very successful commercially. I wonder why they didn't launch two different models.

Indeed, maybe in the future. Perhaps the console is meant to look like the typical Blu-ray/DVD player and go unnoticed to use it as a multimedia player, and they didn't want it to change. Who knows.

Here is the first official purchaser of the console in the world. He is from New Zealand -it's November 22th there-.

Phil Harrison congratulated him on Twitter.

It looks so much better in the Startrooper colours than it does in black! I would buy that just for the WTF factor!

That's pretty crappy, according to them:

Surround information is lost forever. That "beta surround" is just some form of stereo upmixing.

Reading comprehension fail.

By default it downmixes to stereo, but that can be changed by enabling the beta surround feature. It's not downmixing to stereo and then upmixing back to surround.

The white controller is absolutely beautiful. The white box...not so much. Xbone looks way better in piano black to my eyes at least. Of course, white is an exclusive color now, so it's not as if I would say no if MS was to be throwing one my way - which they aren't, of course. ;)

The thing that makes the white X1 look great is the fact it's a dual tone white/black color scheme. If it was all white it wouldn't look so good.

What's cool about getting app achievements?

Please tell me that's a legit question & not you trolling a thread for a product you're not buying. And here I was chatting to somebody the other day that as long as I've been here(over 10 years) I never once considered adding somebody to my ignore list, but I'm now starting to reconsider that.

But to answer your question, it's nice to get rewarded for doing non-game related stuff because some days you don't feel like gaming. So it's nice to know that achievements are part of the whole experience & not just the games. And it also seems like it might help you discover things about apps you wouldn't normally would without them.
