That slow HDD is why having more DDR3 would be impactful. The more RAM, the more dynamic your working set can be, once you've filled it up.

Irrespective, the closer the texture data can be to the GPU the better off you are. You don't address all the texture data every frame, but for sure its better to have it local when it is called upon.

Might we be looking in the wrong direction for why they may add more memory? Perhaps they want to run bigger apps. While I am looking forward to games, I caught myself thinking this would be great for the office if I could hook a mouse keyboard up to it. Do my billing as I dictate notes. Or Skype with my brother In Guam as I do work. Hell this thing would work great for hospitals an old folks homes.

If they've nailed voice control and it's an quick/easy setup to recognize and sign in multiple users. And multiple users get to use these features without each paying XBL gold subscription. It would be great.

I think that's what I've been saying all along....as long as the games look like true next generation..it doesn't really matter what's inside the box. Only bench racers care about numbers.

If true that explains the low specs . They're betting the bank on Kinect .. we'll see if that was a sound investment.

I doubt it costs anywhere near as much as the console to actually produce, though it likely cost much to develop and integrate so well.

This is where this guy lost me. Basically this person is trying to tell us that Microsoft is selling the console at a HUGE loss for boxing the Kinect sensor with the X1. And Microsoft hasn't bothered to show off a single Kinect game?

From a hardware and BOM standpoint, no. Software? It's complex enough that no one else has done it yet, so that counts for something, just not money the end user has to pay.

That comment specifically would be above what an engineer on the Xbox One would know to be true. If you don't know what the thing is going to be called, you certainly aren't going to know the BOM of both the Xbox One and the Kinect to make such a statement. And a person who DOES know that stuff is not doing anonymous AMAs on Reddit!

It just sounds like hyperbole and embellishment.
