Developers already have the actual cell to play with so I don't see why it won't be possible. Xbox360 devs are supposed to drop their products on the market with less than 3 months of hardware practise..
Xbox 360 games have been in development for two to three years. Most of the PS3 devs just got their kits a few months ago. Do the math. The PS3 WILL NOT launch in the U.S. in spring '06. It's the classic Sony bait and switch. They don't want people to pull the trigger on the Xbox 360 and when Spring '06 comes, the PS3 will be "delayed" and "delayed" some more until it's finally launched in Fall '06.

Except we know some PS3 games that have been in development much longer than that. When did Ninja Theory start work on Heavenly Sword, for example?

Having kits, and developing games, are two different things. You don't need specific kits to start working on a game.

From a hardware perspective, there have been more "accurate" PS3 kits out there longer than there have been for X360. On a hardware level, working on a SM3.0 PC for a PS3 game would have been as useful as working on MS's first X360 kits for a X360 game.

Huh? I guess we should ask you to define what exactly you mean when you say development (especially that far off from the X360 launch). I would think that developers would be worrying about the current Xbox then developing games for the 360 (Three years ago)....unless your talking about PD0 or Kameo...then yeah. Thinking up the concept of a game and general things such as that could be counted as "developing" the game...but without actual hardware to touch...then how tangible is that?

Spring 06 launch is already confirmed so games will be finished. The only question is whether the launch will be worldwide.

EA had Fight Night up and running since May, final dev kits are scheduled for December. I would be surprised if they didn't have something ready by next spring.

Of course there are exceptions, my friend, and an exception this one is. Heavenly Sword was a platform neutral game developed on PC's for next generation systems. But what about the PS3 heavy hitters?! I mean, Sony isn't expecting to sell over-priced consoles in March with ten Heavenly Swords, are they? Where is MGS4, GT5 and DMC4?

If Sony manages to pull off a world-wide launch in March '06. I'll never post here again. With that said, expect to see a "I told you so" thread on these forums on April 1st 2006. If PS3 does launch in March, I won't be posting here anyways cuz I'll be playing mine.

Both are friendly, but the PS3 may actually be friendlier, reports one of out PS2 and Xbox 360 development sources, who wished to remain anonymous. People are finding that the [xbox] 360 has some stupid bottlenecks.
For the sake of argument, is it at all possible that there could be some truth to this statement? I have heard that the X360 is significantly easier to program for, but is it possible that those references were to single core programming? Could it be easier to take advantage of the Cell's 7 SPEs than the Xenon's secondary and tertiary cores?

I started wondering this when I saw the comment regarding the ‘X360 bottlenecks’. I know, if indeed there are bottlenecks they could be in either the CPU or GPU or be a product of the two combined, but again I am just looking for a little conjecture on what/where this bottleneck might be.

Nothing is "confirmed" in this industry. Mark my words, the PS3 will launch in the U.S. in Fall '06.

What games are those, and why were they in development for 2-3 years whereas PS3 games haven't been?

Alpha you do know that April is the spring time right? Come on man you are getting to hyped over this 'when will PS3 launch thing'. They could launch in May and still be considered Spring if they wanted to.
