New MGS4 trailer at Sony Keynote (July 11th)

I decided to wiki MGS4 and pulled the below quote (which in turn is a pull from the latest trailer).

"The system makes it possible to integrate not only micro-level information on individual soldiers and units...But also macro-level information about field control and order of battle." To which Snake responds, "So, they've achieved total real-time battlefield control."

I guess Kojima has decided to make Ocelot a war god in the finale. This is going to lead to such acts of bad assery as to make fan boys' heads explode.

He's probably setting the stage for an RTS spin off!

I have the impression we will lose Snake at one point and we will get control of him.

Or probably take control of both both.

He is probably another clone....or possibly Snake's son?

He could be the same guy in the new trailer. And for some reason he is unaffected unlike the others by nanomachines injected into their bodies.

is it me or theres a huge loss in quality in the HD trailer when you compare them to the direct feed shots. And the direct feed shots seem to have a greenish-blue tint while the Trailer has a yellowish one.

I'm willing to bet he is just a fill-in character and no one of importance. He is definitely a member of Foxhound. In fact, why are any of you even concerned with this character?

As for other players to control; Raiden is sure to be one.

He is the only masked guy in the core squad and not affected by nano-stuff. Obviously important to plot.

When I first saw the trailer, I thought he was Raiden (being blond), but too lazy to check the voice.

Hah. Didn't notice that. Looking at the pic it appears that he might be Raiden. I believe there is some white/bleach blond bangs visible through the goggles.

Kojima demonstrated the first real game play of MGS4 at Playstation Premiere 2007 in Tokyo today.

(unfortunately no pic)

In this demo Snake infiltrates into a battle field, then becomes a bronze statue or hides in a drum. After rolling in a drum Snake gets dizzy but he cheers up after finding girl pics. The small robot, Metal Gear Mk II, also appeared in the demo. The details of the online service are going to be unveiled at the Metal Gear 20th anniversary party on July 24th.

Bless you, one. Times like these I miss the repping system!

Shame they had no pics :/ I hope some outlet got some photos! Really weird that they couldn't have shown this last week at E3. Sign of the times, I guess, and that show's waning importance (I mean, MGS4 asides, it almost seems like more new PS3 games have been announced today than during E3!).

Famitsu has some more details. The pics on the page are from the E3 trailer and MPO+ (PSP).

+ Can pretend to be dead by using Octocam
+ Can crawl forward like a looper by getting the hip up and down
+ Can take away enemy's weapons
+ Can roll around sideways while lying down
+ Can use an electric stun knife to stun an enemy
+ Can hide from an enemy under a drum like a cardboard box. A drum is more tough and secure.
+ Too much rolling in a drum makes Snake vomit
+ Not to make him vomit, you can let him browse a magazine with sexy pics (with more pages than before). Pages can be flipped and you can use it against enemies too.
+ The viewpoint can be switched to over-shoulder.
+ The FPS viewpoint is also available. A crosshairs is controllable by SIXAXIS
+ Hiding in a trash can for a too long time adds bad smell to Snake and enemies can sense it
+ You can turn off Octocam by shaking SIXAXIS
+ Snake uses SIXAXIS when he controls Metal Gear MKII
+ Metal Gear MKII is in the stealth mode and it's hard for enemies to spot it
+ Can throw a tornado bomb while lying face up.

Famitsu says Metal Gear Online is also been developed for PS3, it's not clear if it's separated from MGS4 or not. It's going to be demonstrated at the Metal Gear 20th anniversary party on July 24th.

Wow thanks for the info, but what is MKII? The little robot? If so then EGM called the SIAXIS control months ago.

I simply can't wait until next week. This is one of the few franchises I can get irrational over and it is setting up to be another great continuation of the same humor, gameplay and cool that made me enjoy the others. I hope they show news about the eye patch.

Yes that robot, but I think it's not controlled by the motion sensor. Snake in TV holds the PS3 controller in his hand when controlling it ;)

I hope this will be a part of the MGS4 rather a separate game
Kojima announced that Kojima Productions is currently preparing a PlayStation 3 version of Metal Gear Online, the online battle game that appeared in MGS3 Subsistence. The site reports that Kojima will play the game live at next week's Metal Gear 20th Anniversary Party event in Tokyo and will share specifics on what players can expect.
