I started writing a detailed rebuttle to this and realized there is no purpose in responding. The site has a certain lean and certain members enforce this lean. I've said my piece on the subject and I'll leave it at that.

I just had a revalation! I believe when people were asking is that gameplay the general response was "you'll be playing that" or "thats rendered to spec". In the sense that ps3 will play hd movies I guess they weren't lying afterall as the videos should be well within the bluray 1080p spec.
I apologize to all.
*sigh* You should PM your reply to me in that case.
You see, what I described in my previous post is my personal experience as part of the team to implement a nationwide broadband infrastructure to every homes (and applications such as VOD, VoIP, online games, ...) in the early 90s in another country where most of the world are still using dial-up. The kind of product vision and mockups we need to do to secure funding within and outside the organization, solicit partners, keep them going for 5 years and also prep the consumers for higher price subscription plans is similar to pushing a next gen console (PS3 or Xbox 360).
Fooling consumers is the last thing you want to do because ultimately they decide your success/failure. People have to step back and see the bigger picture instead of zooming down to individual pixels in the trailers. In an overall sense, it's about painting a future for all the partners to shoot towards. The basic problem is always to communicate the value to the stakeholders while the technologies are not deployed yet. It's also about strong project management to keep things on track. This is very different from sitting in a board room and plotting a grand scheme to cheat little kids of their lollipop money so-to-speak.
As for rivalry between MS and Sony, I have a different opinion which may or may not be clear to you. I believe the biggest enemy of nextgen is actually the current standard gaming practices and PS 2 (But that's another topic altogether). MS vs Sony has very little to do with my comments (except that I keep highlighting the Halo 2 Trailer as a reference from MS side to try to tell you that the trailers are there perhaps for a good reason).
Finally I have also learned to be wary of the media. Ignorance, miscommunication, personality, readership/viewership and other agendas can get in the way of trying to see the picture.
My personal view is that the gaming media sucks.

I'm impressed how well the PR work even after so many months.
In case you haven't noticed, I said the above in a reluctant and somewhat helpless way. Don't fuel PR.
