my first ps3 impressions

It was mentioned at GAF that Resistance will not output 1080i so for those of us with older CRT sets that don't accept 720p, we'll be stuck playing at 480p. Are there any games besides Resistance that don't output 1080i?

I think this is more of concern for americans then for us europeans. since we never had 1080i CRT tv's. hdtv is only lcd and plasma over here baby

so overall the graphics are much better than the most modern nvidia and ati videocard?

Hmmm.... yes, very close. I was skeptical but seeing is believing! :)

In two or three years we will look back at these PS3/360 launch games and get a good laugh!

The performance of the GPU is only part of the quality of graphics in game. There's also developer ability and art direction and investment and level of hardware access. It's possible to take a quad SLI rig and make it render crap looking graphics, if the software and art isn't there to make use of the hardware.

You have a post on this in the technical forum too, and I tell you now this line of questioning is going nowhere. You can't measure graphics by hardware abilities alone, just as you can't measure games consoles by Flops. Ultimately you need to just see the graphics on different machines to get an idea of how the systems compare, because the end results show how all the elements that influence graphics come together.

What?!?!? Sony isn't enforcing any 720p/1080i standards? Some games won't work in 1080i?!?!?! That's ridiculous! Seriously, you guys are joking right?

what?

I would assume that just like 360, the PS3 allows you to scale any output resolution that you choose from settings to meet your tv's needs....no?

started online play with RR7. well note to myself... wait a few more days. at 23.00 western euro time, almost nobody from japan plays videogames (6-7 AM overthere) :p
I managed to play 2 races, just found one room. Usa launch cant come soon enough.

Btw, this game boots prety normal in time. i dont see a reason to install 5Gb on the harddrive to be honest.

Nice to hear you figured out the online registering:)
I'm sure those servers will be a lot more busy come weekend!
Have fun with your new toy you lucky bastard. . . I have to wait until March to get my own, argh. At least I'll get to play on my friends PS3 arriving from Hong Kong next week:D

I plugged in my samsung mp3 player. Its nicely recognised but under MUSIC in the menu, i couldnt see the mp3's . bummer . so we need to move these mp3"s first to a directory MUSIC I guess.( yeah yeah , RTFM but who does that right :) )
What was cool is, in the PSStore , when you want to download a demo or a movie, you can choose your usb device as media instead of your hardisk inside the ps3. Thats nice
OK today i 'm going to hunt down a rgb scart cable and if i'm lucky a component cable .

blast factor, damn I want to buy this game :)

Yeah, if you have stuff under MUSIC, it will pop-up automatically, but try pressing triangle while selecting your mp3 player on the PS3, that should give you a fool folder tree and allow you to pick up any file on there.

Blast Factor sounds a lot of fun, with the Sixaxis support.

looks like the usa marketplace is online now. apears to be : motorstorm and F1 demo on it. Cant wait to check these out.

Btw there is somethong I ve been wondering but no one seemed to talk about it.

Has anyone tested a PS2 game'S online multiplayer on a PS3? Does it work okl?

You can still play PS2 online muliplayer games on a PS3, right?

I think i'v read in some of these BC threads that socom 3 online didnt work. maybe thats onle a problem with that specific title.

I was wondering another thing. Since i dont know nobody in my neigbourhood with another ps3 ..
well, when you download a movie or demo, you can choose where to install it.
I saw that option cause my 512mb mp3 player was still connected to my ps3. so imagine i download a nice game on a usb stick, i can borow that stick to my mate so he can play it for a while and give me my stick back? i think that could be awesome.
Need to retest it, cause i'm doubting i could choose destination drive also for the game demos... hmm
