Movie Reviews 2.0

I think the ending was intended to point out that there was something to think about, namely whether or not
the main character ended up back with his real family, or whether he chose to be in his own virtual level of choice

The writer is on the record that he's back in reality but beyond worrying about it.

Night Watch was very good, but I remember being a little disappointed by the sequel.

Well one problem I see is that the sequel is dubbed, not subtitled (at least the release I found). I don't care for dubbed movies at all.

see my post from 2 pages ago, 13th may

Its not just me, take IMDB
search of all horrors with >1000 votes = 1520films

1. psycho rating 8.7
..
..
658. The Town That Dreaded Sundown (1976) rating 5.9

FACT - thus majority are under 6.0

yes in games the ratings tend to be 6->10, but not in films both from reviewers (see rottentomatoes) & general public (see IMDB)

no, imdb ratings are shit also look at most highly grossing movies and you will see very few votes in the 2-5 range. movies will wind up in that range from the preponderance of 1 'hate' votes.

Blake Lively and her gravity-defying rock-hard fake breasts. I haven't seen The Green Lantern, but any time I've seen her on tv where her cleavage is showing, it freaks me out.

Are you sure you're not confusing push-up, underwire with saline balloons?

I was thinking more in the sense that when you finish the movie/book/game/etc., you don't go say "8.4/10". You either like it, don't or you're ambivalent. You can add two more states, extremely good and extremely bad. Rating it with more than a five point scale isn't very useful IMO.

for me there is definitely a lower end that I never use, because there is crap out there such that I can't even sit through the entire movie. I started watching starship troopers 2 a few days ago and shut it off after 10 minutes. It might well be a 1/10 movie but I don't think I saw enough of it. 1/5 could be too high.

Starship Troopers 2 is, indeed, a terrible film (despite some gratuitous nudity! ;) ), but it's a 10 out of 10 in comparison to Starship Troopers 3 which is simply breathtakingly appalling!

yes Ive heard starship troppers 3 is worse, I must get it out
Ive just looked it up, starring that walking piece of cardboard, casper van dien. Im sold, hes great, Looks like Im going to the videoshop today

just watched starship troopers 3
actually not bad, its a return to part 1, but even more of a blatent satire

6/10 starship troopers 1
2/10 starship troopers 2
4/10 starship troopers 3

Oh Zed Wellington must be a terrible city if you're compelled to watch Starship Troopers 3! :(

Im in nelson now, but yes wellington is a dive
ST3 aint so bad, its a good pisstake of religion.
this girls lips http://www.imdb.com/media/rm811309824/nm0086883 were captivating (I wonder if they get their own dressing room?)

also the scenes with http://www.imdb.com/name/nm2103974/ acting next to casper, made him appear brilliant.
All in all Ive seen 4 films worse than it this week (so middle of the pack) a couple of decent ones as well
7/10 dean spanley (2008)
7/10 zatoichi meets yojimbo (1970)

Oh you're such a tease Zed. I have to admit however that Wellington as a place is >>> Auckland and if by the power of Christ compelling me to move to a big city I would probably pick Wellington over all others in New Zealand, im currently in Auckland so really I can't call Wellington a hole without first slamming the place I live first.

The Uncanny Valley! I think I just found it....

Watched the trailer of the Tintin movie, and... Uh, I don't know quite what to say!

I saw Insidious the other night. First three quarters had genuinly terrifying parts where i actaully had goose bumps. Shame
that it turned into a disney movie towards
the end.

lol i gave nightwatch a 3/10 it ranks up there as one of the worst vampire movies ive ever seen, somewhere between daybreakers and lifeforce.

i watched centurion recently as well, that one was worth watching 6/10.

both are available on neflix watch instantly at any rate.
