Movie Reviews 2.0

Transformers 3 - 6/10 Absolutely terrible movie, even compared to other Bay efforts. And the worst affront is that the new girl isn't even remotely attractive. She looks like a bug-eyed girl who let an earthworm crawl up on her face and die above her mouth.

I actually liked her more than Megan :) Last half of that movie is kind of a mess though and the humans once again have too big of a role in everything. Megatron sure was downgraded from the first movie throughout the series. Yeah he was weakened (still why?) but still...

edit: Megan looks like a skanky ho.

It looked good IMHO, ILM and the camera work are both unbelievably good. The few scenes that only relied on Bay's directing talent to create tension have worked pretty well too.

The script however is mostly rubbish. Haven't seen that many occurances of deus ex machina in a single movie before... And logic's out of the window for the most part, too. Someone should really get Bay together with a good writer for a change (although the Island was kinda good as I recall).

Excellent. Now Mr. Luna will have no reason to watch it! I appreciate your review. :)

Sincerely,
Mrs. Luna

Decimal (and percentile) scales are useless, and majority of the content rated that way ends up in the 6-10 range, esentially recommending nearly everything.

Pretty much. As I've said before, the 1-10 range is really the 7-9 range. Anything outside that is crap. So a 6 from me is a negative review, but I didn't give the movie a 3-5 because the CG is good and the rest of the production quality high. If I were to rate it solely on dialogue and plot, it gets a 2 or 3.

Well I don't understand why you wouldn't use the entire scale but whatever. Rating scale never meant much.

see my post from 2 pages ago, 13th may

Its not just me, take IMDB
search of all horrors with >1000 votes = 1520films

1. psycho rating 8.7
..
..
658. The Town That Dreaded Sundown (1976) rating 5.9

FACT - thus majority are under 6.0

yes in games the ratings tend to be 6->10, but not in films both from reviewers (see rottentomatoes) & general public (see IMDB)

I rather liked Cars, but I have no plans to see the sequel.

BTW, John Lasseter directed it, so he certainly had some influence on it. ;)

I hope this doesn't mean Incredibles 2 sucks...

Transformers 3: 2/10. Amazingly poor. 1 point for having robots. 1 point for them fighting at certain times. Everything else was crap. I'm done with the Transformers franchise unless someone else starts directing it. I could write tons of how horrible it is but why suffer more than the 2hours and 40min that I just did.

Recently watched the Russian film "Night Watch" and really enjoyed it...8/10. Not your typical good vs. evil fantasy vampire flick.
Now I have to find "Day Watch" the sequel.

Green Lantern - 5/10 In an effort to move outside the 7-9 scoring, I'll give this one a 5 and position it as a completely mediocre effort. Though I will say Blake Lively looks absolutely incredible in this movie. I know next to nothing about DC comics, and I've never read a single GL book, so I went into the theater with a blank slate, and walked back out as a blank slate. Definitely wait for cable to pick it up.

Ive seen those 2. Great films, surprised hollywood hasnt remade them

Night Watch was very good, but I remember being a little disappointed by the sequel.

Oh, I finally got around to watching "Inception" last night.

I quite enjoyed it and will give it 7.5/10. The odd silly bit aside and, ignoring some daft concepts, it was pretty coherent and held together well.

Incidentally, I thought that ending was pretty coherent generally and the spinning top at the end was just a gimmick to get viewers thinking they had missed something. A DVD-selling exercise, if I ever saw one!

I think the ending was intended to point out that there was something to think about, namely whether or not
the main character ended up back with his real family, or whether he chose to be in his own virtual level of choice
