Motorstorm 2

I have a question. What's so hard for Evolution Studios to give us a proper demo like the 80% build we've seen in E3 08 or Leipzig? Instead they give us a crappy old build that was probably from last year. I can see that they are probably busy finishing up the actual game but what's so hard to implement the E3 08 build onto the PSN? You just copy and paste.

The E3 or IGN builds were likely not as stable as the build they released. Probably lacked some of the fit-n-finish necessary for a demo out in the wild. While a reviewer may understand the difference between game related bugs and early build related bugs, your average consumer might not. While the Qore build isn't nearly as pretty, it is stable (from what I've seen and heard). So, they probably had to decide between pretty and unstable or less pretty and stable. I'm not saying they made the right choice, but I could definitely understand why.

Plus the IGN build my require a debug kit to run on, meaning it wouldn't be as simple as copy and paste to get it onto PSN, while the build we got may have been already ready to go (or closer to it).

Offscreen distance photos downscaled to very small sizes dont really work for anything else than to make things more prettier than is. Though I see the artistic detail is good and even upclose it looks decent->very good (other screenshots in natvie size). I mean look at these Kameo offscreen shots of selected parts, showing textures atleast equal to Uncharted 1 2 3.

Anyway I leave it there since this is afterall a MS2 thread! ;)
You'd almost have a point, if it wasnt for the foliage absent from the Qore build.

Yes the pics don't do the demo justice, but the demo you have is definately the right one. The left one is FAR improved over what you're playing. Better lighting, better foliage, better colour pallette...and on looking at footage, better textures.
It is NOT EXACTLY the same as the one on the left, but it is MUCH BETTER than the one on the right. There is no doubt. The Qore demo version I have doesn't have the extra vegetation from what I can see with the picture, but it is a far cry from the pics on the right. I had the pictures up on my power notebook WHILE playing the game for a direct comparison.

BTW, my TV has been professionally calibrated.

I dunno man. The demo looks just like the pics on the right on my calibrated pioneer plasma. Maybe not exactly because I'm looking at them on my iPhone. The demo looks nothing like the press build.

I hope they release an updated demo when they are done, would be nice to actually see the game :)

I've been playing (and watching) this game a bit more, and one of the things that have improved a lot is that the cars really deform a lot more this time, a lot like Burnout. So you keep the bit where all the parts can fly off and bounce off of other cars etc, but added is some really nice crumpling bodywork, from all directions.

But it may just be a mix inbetween the both. From some videos of gameplay of the press build there was quite some tearing and slowdown noticable. For example the start with all cars casting up mud when accelerating had something like 10fps.

So it might be that they toned down some graphical effects for the demo to not have people complain on the framerate/tearing until they fix the issues, if its possible.

Then, you have a different MS2 Qore build from the one I have. I wasn't aware they had multiple MS2 Qore builds.

There isn't. You have the one on the right. No arguments.

Of course Lucid_Dreamer has the one on the right, it's just that the pictures of the Qore build are in low quality, which doesn't help, while the IGN pics are scaled from direct-feed screenshots.

Could you post a decent upclose photo of atleast native 1280*720 resolution?

Might be good to compare against the other images.

I played the demo a few times and was shocked at how bad it looks, really wasn't expecting this.It looks horrible when it is not in motion. It has very nice scenery and motion blur but overall It doesn't come close to gc trailer.I am releived to see that it is from an older build.
I really like the scenery and gameplay and want this one to be good in every way.I believe evolution will deliver.

Well, the ground textures seem fine in it ....Lighting seems to be Rocking ! but it is an off-screen video, so.....we can't really say ...(shrug).. !

Yeah, the 80% build also has a more advanced boost indicator. I don't remember the indicator caught fire in the Qore demo.

No it didn't, I remember noticing that in the Qore demo and thought they scrapped the idea, glad to see they didn't.

The new build has a lot more foliage and textures seem better. I thought it looked good already.
