First of all, a 360 game at No 2, with a userbase of 3M compared to PS2's 41M. Sure it's the game's first week, but that's still quite impressive.

One strange thing... Tekken Tag is at N. 128! A 7 year old game with 2 or 3 sequels is in the charts, but the sequels arent!! Honestly, Tekken Tag is still my favourite! :D

Other thing, the PS2 userbase is just absolutely massive. This is what will probably save Sony in the future.

More interesting is this:

TOTAL Software sales (October)
Console Month Total
X360 1,159,500 16,275,500
PS2 1,093,500 225,170,500
DS 905,500 22,729,500
GC 500,000 62,281,500
XB 337,500 68,439,500
GBA 251,000 70,641,000
PSP 115,500 18,984,500

Total 4,362,500

In October, 360 sold more games in total than PS2, DS and all other platforms! :D Again, seen the difference in userbase between 360 and PS2, it's again quite amazing. Admittedly, there were no big PS2 games released in October, whereas 360 had Splinter Cell.

Last interesting bit:

I have an X360 and I am shocked at how many games I have. The numbers I really want to see is for the month of November. Just curious how much the x360 sales ramped up after the Thanksgiving holiday.

Me too, November will be interesting to see. I'll post it as soon as it's up :D

These two caught my eye. Pretty high sales for those considering the age of the titles. Also Halo 2 over six million in NA alone is pretty amazing, high total NA sales for Fable came as a surprise to me also. I thought it's maybe a bit over 1 million.

41 Halo 2 XB Microsoft 24 28,500 6,006,000

54 Fable XB Microsoft 26 20,000 1,945,000

Very nice list, lb. :D

Month = # of months the title has been out?

20 Dead Rising X360 Capcom 3 55,000 538,000

Please create a sequel with a better save system and co-op!

Wow, almost 2 Million units of Fable sold in NA alone? I thought it was a good game and am glad for Lionhead its such a success (the PC version and international sales apparently aren't even included ), but that really surprises me.

Exactly, which means it won't be in October's list! *slaps cthellis'
So, um... A chart measuring sales of all video games in October does not count October 31st because it... is not in October?

I can understand it if October 31st were one of those "shipping TO retailers but not for sale suck it!" days, but it was widely available then. I was playing it between trick-or-treaters! :p

They work on weekly sales, Mr Watson, meaning the week going from 30st Oct to 5th Oct will be the first week of reporting for the November chart :D That's if they start from Mondays, not sure about that. 31st was a Tuesday.

That makes more sense, then. Though "monthly sales" in that case is only an approximation, as many days slip over the border to the month before or ahead. Why not just list the actual weeks the way MagicBox does, then, if they don't have reasonable daily breakdowns?

Hey it's clear that the numbers are all approximate figures, but i love the site because it has a LOT of sales information.
They just don't have November up yet. They probably will in the next few days.

I know they're approximates, but if they're working by weeks, why not separate them into weeks? There's usually a good 4-5 days that are bundled into the wrong months in that case. Or, hell, depending how they divide them up, some could have damn near a dozen. And there certainly WILL be popular game launches caught in them. Why stack arbitrary date borders?

Excellent post LB. What with R6:vegas, CoD3, Viva Pinata, and Gears in October... I wonder what the charts will look like.

We already know that did Gears 2 million since release.
