Microsoft's plans for tv and movies on live marketplace in Canada?

After hearing the announcements about IPTV and the availability of movies and tv episodes in the US I am pretty excited about when these things are going to be available in Canada. I think Zune is expected to make it here sometime in the spring so I am thinking MS might launch tv shows and movie downloads over xbox live around the same time? Does anyone have any real information on this?

Thanks

The TV shows and movie downloads on Marketplace have nothing to do with IPTV. IP TV is only going to be offered through cable providers, and this won't happen until later this year at the earliest. Even still your provider has to be participating in the IPTV service.

The TV shows and movies being available are out of the hands of MS. The reason we don't have them is due to the CRTC and the Canadian rights holders for the TV shows/movies. Until the Canadian rights holders are all on board, they can't make anything available to us Canucks.

Anyone know if you can create an American account and access content that way? The same way you can currently download off the EU and JPN marketplaces??

I think us Canadians will have to continue to get the content...other ways for awhile yet.
Two hurdles.
1. The FCC would probably have some stupid rules making it a pain in the ass to get it approved
2.Canadian networks pay good money for the exclusive rights to broadcast American shows, marketplace content would be compeition.

Yes but you then you also need the US MS points cards. Not a huge deal for me as I live near the border.
