Microsoft press conference

Announcment of GTA4 looks like the annoucement of BIA3 and Rainbow six:vegas.. These two games seem to come only PS3 couple of days ago while we all know that they are also coming to Xb360.. The next-gen race really is going to be tight this time..

Btw, has assasin creed mentioned in press conf?

Yes, all those Vista users. :) And of course, everyone is going to rush right out and buy Vista whenever Microsoft fixes all the bugs and finally gets it out the door.

X-Box Live has been integrated online via Web for a while now, going back to the XBOX1, yet I NEVER use it. I'm not sure Vista integration is a big selling point for me or users. People don't even know what Vista is yet, so how can they be excited about Vista integration when they are not even Vista users?

If MS could make live ubiquitous on the PC so that xbox360 users and PC users could communicate easily from different games I could see that offering value.

Wow!! The Halo3 looked like a huge step from anything yet seen on xbox360, it was like a gen 1 xbox360 game jump to... xbox720!!!

Wow XBL arcade is gonna by huge.

Hi-Def and some online multiplayer with tons of back catalog classics, Konami, Sega etc well represented.

Sounds great for consumers and MS if it drives Gold membership signups.

But wouldn't publishers of regular games at some point see it as competition?

Cheap competition at that.

Communicate? The Joystiq blog says that Vista and Xbox users were playing Shadowrun with each other!

I was expecting the Halo3 trailer to be much more impressive in terms of presentation than what was shown.

In what ways? That master chief model was better than I would have imagined, absolutely stunning. And it the story looks amazing.

I was thinking more like if I was playing WoW and wanted to /msg someone playing shadowrun on the xbox360.

Half of it was a zoomed out view of the the base station. I was hoping for a little more varity and closeups. We already know Xbox360 can render nice models like in GoW so we didn't really need reaffrmation.

Ahh.. yes. Not only that, but I believe you should be able to live chat with them while you are playing WoW and they are playing shadowrun, as well as send any invites, etc.. sounds rather damn impressive, actually.

This has nothing to do with the operating system. Whether or not two games can play with each other is defined by the game developer's network protocol, not the operating system.

Moreover, whether or not you can instant message people has more to do with what IM protocols you use than what your operating system is.

Vista doesn't imply you use MSN instant message, since many users opt for Yahoo IM, AOL IM, ICQ and Google/Jabber.

There is nothing to stop EA PC games for example, from talking to PS3 EA games, or messaging over XMPP.

speaking now about hiDef content downloads (music vids movie trailers etc)

and the HD DVD player available holiday 2006 (no price or details) :???:

150 HD DVD titles to be available by this holiday

Grand theft auto

I guess the hub bub was that Sony would not have a timed exclusive this gen and that it would be available on X360 same day as Sony.

Exclusive downloadable content from Rockstar though

"Games for Windows" is now a brand

Crysis being shown for Vista

Edit:

Whoa, looks incredible...
