Microsoft press conference

In what ways? That master chief model was better than I would have imagined, absolutely stunning. And it the story looks amazing.

To be honest, there aren't many things easier to do than a man fully enclosed in metal armor... ;) It looks okay, as I've expected, but nowhere near FFXIII quality. But Bungie hasn't sold all that Halo discs on graphics alone.

Shadowrun.... pub by MS

launches Jan 2007 to launch with Vista and be only on X360 and Games for Windows

mentioning that they are happy to continue to incorporate (some) dual GfW and X360 releases

dang Alan Wake also pub by MS looks spectacular (another dual release)

This has nothing to do with the operating system. Whether or not two games can play with each other is defined by the game developer's network protocol, not the operating system.

Moreover, whether or not you can instant message people has more to do with what IM protocols you use than what your operating system is.

Vista doesn't imply you use MSN instant message, since many users opt for Yahoo IM, AOL IM, ICQ and Google/Jabber.

There is nothing to stop EA PC games for example, from talking to PS3 EA games, or messaging over XMPP.

Coulda, shoulda woulda........they're actually doing it. That's the difference.

I'm quite happy that I can buy a game on the Xbox 360, my buddy can buy it for the PC and we can still play online together. I don't see how this isn't a big step in online gaming and merging the console and PC's together.

That was pretty much my impression too. It looks good, but given what we were shown it's difficult to tell how good it actually is. FFXIII is more impressive to me simply because they attempted (and succeeded!) at doing something much more difficult.

FF13 looks great, but for one thing it's got a release date of who knows when, probably 2008 realistically, and 2nd, it's a turn-based RPG so it uses static battles, which must be much less demanding than a realtime battle. So, not a fair comparison IMO.

wow,

yea I'm watching the integrated games deal now with sending an invite from X360 to a PC and Windows

you have pretty much a Live interface on the PC and one click and the Windows user is connected to live... no IP address issues, it just connects... KB/mouse on the PC vs the controller on X360  voice chat the works

nice ....

oh and LIVE now on your mobile phone too

That's a big assumption IMO, about the turn-based battle.

Anyway looks good, cant wait to see more about it.

No Mass Effect video?

Oh yeah, a guy with a mouse playing against a guy with an analog stick. Better hope it's not an FPS.

Inoperability between games has NOTHING to do with the XBOX360 and PC operating system. It is purely a function of the developer. So if you think 100% of future XBOX360 online games will somehow work across PC and mobile phones, you will be in for a rude awakening.

I was thinking more like if I was playing WoW and wanted to /msg someone playing shadowrun on the xbox360.

Nite_Hawk

I think you can do that now .... any windows user (I guess you need to have the software) would show up on the X360 friends list with all available options including messaging (I'm assuming)

Halo3 looks nice but it's difficult to say much about it...GOW's trailer is very impressive imo.

Yeah, can't wait for a less compressed video and screenshots.
And where's all the rest?

Again you have no point. I don't care what the developer can or can't do. I care what they ARE doing and what they're doing is nice step towards integrating consoles with the PC world.

Ofcourse now you jump onto the 100% of the games much be interoperable for you to be happy. I'm pretty sure most people don't have such high expectations at yourself. What idiot thinks they'll be able to play such high end games on a mobile phone? They will ensure that popular cross platforms games allow for online/co-op play as clearly shown in the presentration.

It's a step forward. It's OK to acknowledge that from time to time.......

Vista and Live announcement just crushed my hopes of a Halo 2 PC without the retard Matching Making system, yikes MS will Screw the PC fanbase over
