Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain & Ground Zeroes

One of the two shittiest game series has found a new way to rip people off. I'm not surprised. At least I'd only have to suffer through 90 minutes of convoluted elementary-school storytelling instead of endless hours of cutscene garbage. Hideo Kojima is one of the worst writers in the history of games. If someone put a gun to my head, I'd sit through it for $40 rather than sit through MGS4 for $60.

Its one of my favorite franchises. It is also for many more. Are you implying we have a shitty taste?

I'm not implying it. I'm outright saying it sucks and I think people that like it have bad taste.

A 90 minute game for $40 is a huge ripoff. I hope you'd not buy it, just to tell the industry it's not ok.

They must think people are desperate for some MGS after not releasing any games for all this time. I wasn't impressed with what they've shown so far, but this makes it a definite pass.

Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

Length != game quality. How long does it take to play through the main story of NiGHTS or Burning Rangers?

Or you just didnt "get" the series. Yes I believe that the writing and acting was bad in some of the games in the series. Yet the series was still a work of art in many other areas

Now about the 90 minute playthrough and price? Thats a different subject

I got through 3 mins before suicidal thoughts. See how long you can make it.

Nesh,

Yes, that confirms you have shitty taste.

Lol. If this is supposed to be some kind of benchmark for what constitutes value for money in 2014, all hope is lost.

A 90 minute game for $40 is a ripoff, plain and simple. If it was the greatest 90 minutes in gaming history, it still wouldn't be worth it, and it's doubtful that it is. If The Last Of Us is a $60 game, that pricing just doesn't make any sense.

Dude you are so angry as if people came in here saying "holy shit $40 only for a whole 90 minutes I ll buy one for Scott Arm too". You are making more fuss about it before anyone even commented about the value

I posted after Robert who was posting about the value. I think $40 for a game that can be beat in anywhere from 5 (unlikely but doable according to that hands-on impressions vid) to 90 minutes is bad value. I'm sure the die hard fans of the series (who'd probably pay $60 for it if they had to) will play it a hundred times over, and they'll get value from that, but the average gamer that buys it, not knowing how short it is, is getting ripped off.

The point is that you play games, you do not watch them. And playing Burning Rangers (and NiGHTS) is more fun than almost everything released these days.

Different people have different tastes. Don't take it personally - it's inevitably implied that if you think something is crap, you are suggesting people that like it have bad taste. You may well think stuff Scott likes is crap. It's not uncommon, for example, for some 'high brow' film enthusaists to think people who like mainstream cinema have diabolical taste. But those same mainstream cinema-goers think the high-brow's taste is pretentious crap.

At the end of the day, everything is someone's crap. :yep2:

when i was a kid i payed 75€ for the atari version of space ace, a game you could complete in a few minutes, one of the worst gameplay mechanics in the industry, a complete waste of money, and still i loved that game and was replaying it all the time.

the original version for comparison

but now, for a game the lenght of a movie, i would not pay more than the price for a dvd movie.

I can get 90 minutes of gameplay out of the demo version of Painkiller for the Pc for free. In my opinion they should be selling Ground zero for $10 or even give it away for preordering The Phantom Pain. $40 truly is a huge rip off. All they are really releasing is any extended demo of MGSV except demos are usually free. Im sure it will be a fun game but WTF?????

I can already feel the phantom pain...I really like MGS, but that is a bit to much of a ripoff...not as much as BF4, where I paid 65€ for a broken gmne (plus 50€ for premium...yeah, I am a genius)...but 40 for 90 is worth than microtransactions...

As forMGS...story might be problematic to some, but imo gameplay and presentation is always top notch!

It wasnt a matter of taking it personally. It was a rhetoric question. I stated what I stated on purpose because of the way he stated his dislike, not because he stated it.

Everything is everything else's crap and someone else's gold. Similarly someone shouldnt take it personally when people like what he doesnt. Right?

If I infest every gaming thread and accuse this or that game as being garbage and say I dont get why people like this garbage, knowing there is a significant amount of people who like it for various reasons, it shows lack of respect towards the opposite side. If you express what you dislike and in a more personal level is different.
This is one of the reasons why two people expressing their like or dislike can get two different reactions from the same people
