I thought there was a known color issue with the VGA connection? I definitely experienced it; most colors appeared washed out. This was not fixable through calibration on the TV, either. Apparently the VGA out was dialed in for PC settings, not TV settings...or something. Actually, Amir says that the spring update should fix this:

Interesting. I like my vga out, aside from a couple things. Did he say if the update would address the nightmares?

Sorry, I don't recall; I just remember Amir mentioning the VGA color issue and was able to find that link.

Not always. The first 1080p displays were either incapable of taking a 1080p input or could only take it over VGA or component.

1080p support is not as clear-cut as you think it is.

Do they take 1080p through component or VGA? I was under the impression that these early 1080p were incapable of taking any 1080p source.

If memory serves, the Mitsubishi's would accept it through Firewire only...

What does any of this have to do with Lair??

Please don't ruin another thread with discussions about 1080p and HDMI..

Yep, guys stay on topic. There's no need start one of the unholy discussion topics again (you know those who make you feel like you're stuck in a temporal loop :devilish:). This thread is about LAIR.

It seems to me that the screenshots that are "new" on both IGN and what Laa-Yosh posted from Playsyde are rather old. I think I've seem them a long time ago on that German gaming site.

The big flying creatures aren't new, but a couple of shots with the dragon and the rider are, IMHO.

Lighting, shading and texture quality aren't too good, but then again these have to be months old. But I think the scenery is just too big and they can't seem to fill it with content...

Laa-Yosh, I saw all the 14 pictures before too, including the dragon pictures. They were just not posted in this forum. They were on other forums such as GAF.

New IGN preview is up: http://ps3.ign.com/articles/780/780120p1.html

Including quite a few new screenshots. http://media.ps3.ign.com/media/761/761161/imgs_1.html
and videos: http://media.ps3.ign.com/media/761/761161/vids_1.html

Based on these new "1080p" screenshots, either something has been seriously bungled in the capture department, or the reports of Factor 5 scaling to 1920x1080 resolution have not been exaggerated. I'm very disappointed in F5 if this is the case.

Also, I expect quite some criticism of the new shots beside that. As I predicted many pages back, the graphics of this game will inevitably oscillate between stunning and ugly. That's just how Factor 5 is.

The screens were upscaled to 1080p from 720p HD video. In the other hand, the videos are awesome! Water effects is incredible in second video. And the night battle video is great!

It looks terrible and the gameplay looks clunky. Even in HD the game does not look good IMO. Other than the water it has little going for it.

Honestly, the flame effects aren't all that impressive and the gameplay left me confused (I don't know how the controls are going to work). It has good water, but that is about it.

The problem is that the water looks good and everything else is crap, which means that the problem isn't with the capture equipment.

Well, like I said, apparently the game is in Alpha. However, they are targeting a July release date, and that doesn't seem to leave very much time for polish. In comparison, Halo 3 was alpha in 06 but still comes out after Lair...
