holy shit this game looks in-fucking-credible. possibly the best looking game ive ever seen. i dont think theres a devhouse in the world that is as technically capable as factor 5, tho crytek comes very close. not sure what looks better, this or crysis

no not at all, the game looks amazing, and factor 5 has a history of doing amazing things with graphics, remember the star wars games on gamecube?

I got 2 already from the "joke" I made. I've cleared the issue up with the first person who did it, but I still don't know who did it the second time.
I gave you +1 pos. reputation to balance Alstrong's mistake which means you actually got 3 neg. reps or more.

I don't think there's a problem with talking about it. And like Acert said some people just suck at taking screenshots. You could do this to any game if the marketing people/interns are bad enough in their screenshot selection skillz.
I agree. The same happened with motorstorm because it's hard to please the online community. Personally I'd rather see the 'true' current state of the game instead of some photoshopped bullshots with unlimited AA.
But it's kind of pointless to discuss something that's nothing more than a snapshot of the game's 3+ year long development. All that matters to me is how the game will looks and play once it's finished.

Oh you were refering to this one? I never considered that one to be a target render because I think they showed the gameplay footage too during then as well. Check this video at TGS http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t7xPOzwAMHs. The game was playable then (ofcourse not on the same leve visuallyl as the CGI trailer which was nothing but a movie it seems not a target render)

Personally I was refering to this one http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ky4hgAFJXe8
This was controllable at GDC. You can check it at the video

Some people on this forum kept saying it was realtime when in fact it's CGI or "target render". I say target render because it looks to be using the same models/textures etc but dowscaled from the CGI.

Yeah I know, that's why I said second trailer AKA the one after the first which was the GDC one.

Mckmas,

are you saying that these images

istockphoto_280634_ocean_rock.jpg

look the same to you as this screenshot

and this one

and you can't notice any significant differences?

In that case I may have to get back to my pseudo-screenshot and apply a few changes...

No I'm not saying that are better. My point was there are rocks in the middle of water that look like the ones in the Lair screenshot. Somebody said that rocks aren't like that in real life and that they look detached. So I showed them a real life picture of the same thing.

And those real-life pictures just reminded me of the Lair screenshots. Beautiful water, nice sunlight, etc.

No that's also how they will be telling the story. They are using real-time and CGI video to tell the story.

Julain. It's in the IGN preview interview they have up on their website.

Well that just proves my point eg the realtime stuff is a downgrade from the target renders otherwise everything would be realtime and not substituted with CGI. Back around TGS there were a lot of people here including you who said that CGI trailer was realtime when in fact it wasn't. I can link you to that thread if you want. ;)

The playable stage at TGS was nice but it had framerate problems. These screeshots look pretty bad.

Just because people thought it was real-time doesn't mean F5 used it as a target render. And it doesn't mean the game was downgraded.

Well "we" were wrong if we refered to it as a target render then ;)

There are many games that use the same models for their in game FMV sequences. Games like these I remember are Onimusha3 and Tekken4.

But I still think they arent using the exact same models in that CGI. They look more advanced

I didn't say they were using the exact same models...try reading more carefully.

I like how the light is coming through the wing. Is that sub-surface scattering (SSS) :?:

looking at the video clip that was linked,

it would be kewl if factor 5 would let you skin oppposing dragons like what the clip showed.
