I like how the light is coming through the wing. Is that sub-surface scattering (SSS)
There is no sub surface scattering @all. (in the builds shown)

Haven't seen that shot in motion, but to me it looks like a basic texture, painted lighter where the wing is thinnest. You certainly wouldn't use SSS for translucency. A simple enough shader that adds backlight illumination with a blurry texture to simulate diffusion is enough for a wing like this.I like how the light is coming through the wing. Laa-Yosh can you speak on how they have a fake form of SSS and why it works so well?
I think it's fake SSS. Laa-Yosh can you speak on how they have a fake form of SSS and why it works so well?
I didn't say they were using the exact same models...try reading more carefully.
But... what if I don't think that it's SSS or that it works well?
Ahm. You said same, I said same so whats your problem?....whether they are the exact same or not its irrelevant with the point. Which you missed.
Its not and never was a target render.
You arguement was that the models were the same just downgraded in the game. I brought you examples in which models (coincidentally)were the exact same in CGI but werent target renders. So this is proof that your arguement is irrelevant.
You are trying too hard to convince it was a target render no matter what
edit: and you have that attitude in many threads
You don't get it. That CGI was the "target". If it wasn't the target how come everyting int the CGI almost looks identical other than the higher quality lighting, models, etc. Are you saying they didn't have a "target"?
Oh God!
Ok then. Every game CGI footage you see then is a target render
You still don't get it...->downgraded CG assets.
From that screenshot, I wouldn't even go that far. It looks like it's just bloom on the sunlight and that happens to bleed a little across the wing which is right in the way.I think it's fake SSS. Laa-Yosh can you speak on how they have a fake form of SSS and why it works so well?
And what does this have to do with...target renders again?
Lookup 3d scanned maquettes.

Again what does this have to do with target renders?
You figure it out.
Well, you may have seen such videos, but I don't see it even to the slightest in that particular screenshot. I am aware, though of some prior Lair videos that have not been all realtime. No I've seen videos here the SSS like effect is used. Just like that Nvidia presentation. It looks exactly the same.
