Just Cause 2

Releasing a game in 2010 without AA is a completely foreign concept to me. If the technique you're using makes it impossible to use AA then you're using the wrong techniques. As simple as that. Releasing a PC game without AA options is OK only if that means you can only have it enabled, not disabled. In fact, I think in the future some games might go this route. Especially considering on the consoles you can't turn off AA anyway.
Humus I love you, you give me hope for the future of PC gaming. :)

Just found out that having a secondary nVidia physX card with an ATi as the display won't do anything with this demo, CUDA and physX ain't the same thing.

Steam is borked for me right now. Can't get the demo :( For some reason Steam decided to be completely broken for me today. It seems to be stuck in offline mode, and I can't see any of the apps I have installed or any of my friends. My computer is online, and Steam is an allowed program in the Windows firewall.

My son had trouble getting it too, but persistence will win out. :)

Just got done with my first try and WOW! Excellent job Humus, I am literally blown away! :D

Just looked at some of the console screens and I just wanted to say this is how you do a proper PC version. I hope others take note!

Excellent game and a given purchase. Grappling hook fun and parachute galore at its finest. Graphics also looks really good, detailed and with insane draw distance together with great effects and colorful graphics. The distant DOF gives a nice touch and the athmospheric heat-haze effect is perfect and something I missed in lots of other games with hot temperature zones! :D

Good point, guess no fancy effects for us AMD plebians. Hopefully someday down the line they will consider an OpenCL version of the effects as well?

Is there water in the demo? I haven't found any. I don't feel like I'm missing out on anything in any way yet.

Thanks, going back to check now! :D

EDITED BITS: Damn it, someone stole my idea...ah well, saved me some trouble at least. It doesn't work. :(

The low-end prognosis is bad. Looks like it might be a neat game though.

Core2 Duo T9400 (2.53GHz)
4GB RAM
Windows7 64-bit
Nvidia 9600M GT 512MB (forceware 195.62

1280x720
0xAA
2xAA (wouldn't allow off)
everything else set low or off

barely playable, cutscenes are almost slow motion.

That's not a very powerful GPU though, is it? (I don't know mobile GPUs very well, 'cept for a rare few that I know more about than I ever care to. :???: )

No, it's not. I've had some luck with other games recently, so thought I'd give it a shot. That's the first one that's been a no go.

I've never had a sig but this is tempting. :p

System specs? Also, it's very important that you have the latest drivers, regardless of IHV.

GTX260 and E6750, 4GB DDR2, Vista 64.

I haven't updated drivers in a couple months, will definitely do that when I get back to the comp. Though I'll probably leave the bokeh filter off as it was a little overdone imo and totally RAPED my fps (old driver?). Never got a chance to see the water but the videos look impressive.

Just out of curiosity Humus...

I know due to requirements for getting the product to market meant going with CUDA.

However, in the future will these same things be doable with Direct Compute? And if so, would there be a possibility of a future patch for DC enabled features rather than CUDA enabled features for this game if it does well enough in the market?

The demo locks up on me too, also running a gtx260 on Vista64, though with an i7 920 and the latest 196.75 drivers.

Might want to revert drivers, apparently Blizzard has advised users of Nvidia cards to revert to an older driver as 196.75 is killing cards. More info in the thread posted in the 3D section.

The good news is that Steam has an excellent crash reporting system, so it'll be much easier for us to locate and fix bugs than in the past, meaning that we could probably fix most problems before the release of the full game.

So here's a question, what caused you guys to do such heavy steam integration?
