Intel Q6600

From what is being written about Crysis, it seems to like quad processors and based on its unbelievable requirements, any boost to processor speed would be welcome.

Agreed, CPU definitely impacts Crysis in a large way. My 40% overclock nets an almost linear 40% speedup in Crysis from what FRAPS is telling me, even at medium settings.

Quote from Crysis developer:

Shack: Is there dedicated support for 64-bit and dual- and quad-core processors, and if so how does the game distribute its tasks? Do you suggest a higher-clocked dual-core over a quad-core, or is quad-core performance enough to give it the edge?

Cevat Yerli: We support both 64-bit and multi-cores. Multi-core will be beneficial in the experience, particularly in faster but also smoother framerates. 64-bit and higher memory will yield quicker loading times. We recommend quad core over higher clock.

I have not downloaded the demo as I have a place holder HD2600xt in my new system. It actually runs fine for the games I run which are MMO's (LOTR and Tabula Rosa) and for the rest of the stuff I run on this system which is business related. However, have a plan to get a 8800GT or RV670XT as replacement and move the current HD2600XT to my wife's machine. A HD2600XT is not worth trying Crysis on.
