Image Quality and Framebuffer Speculations for WIP/alpha/beta/E3 games *Read the first post*

X360 looks upscaled, which is strange because we were told that it'll run at a 1:1 pixel ratio, at something like 1280 * 704 resolution with black bars at the top and the bottom...

Could be different AA!

I guess PS3 has MLAA, while 360 has FXAA which Blurs the picture a bit like in Deus Ex 3 for 360.

Unless they wanted Xenos to handle the scaling.

The orange letters for targets or checkpoints are definitely much software in the XB360 pic (second of Sh1nn's links), but the overall image isn't anything like as software, so I'm currently putting this one down to AA processing.

See some ghosting in 360 gameplay video, could it be the video encoding or 360 version actually uses some kind of customized temporal AA like C2 instead of FXAA?

On this one, there's the edge on the gun that's 42 pixels high, but you need 45 to be able to discern the difference between 704 and 720. (44/45)

Do you have a screenshot in the same spot as this one, but without anyone blocking the top step and with the white lights directly behind the step (due to angle)? Gonna need a lot of pixels and steps. The bottom step just under the text is a tad too blurred to be conclusive.

Hope these work for you

Game looks decent though not what many expected...maybe showing the PC version maxed from the start was not a good decision after all - still expecting the SP to look even better.

BTW I just saw the video review of Dark Souls from IGN that showed bits of both versions and it looked kinda soft & blurry in both of them but with with no noticeable aliasing however...well it might be the video compression but for now I'll have to go with the 1024*720 res that Al counted from a picture a few months ago for both versions..I expected the game to be 1280*720 at least on the PS3 just like Demon's Souls.

I guess we'll have to wait for some direct feed screenshots to be sure.
