Heavy Rain [PS3]

The game can look like crap on a TV without good black/low levels response .
On the proper tv ,some (most) of the sets are looking very realistic and rich.

Fair enough, if you see not an instance of aliasing, it's a better experience for you. I'm having a tremendous amount of fun with this game and any aliasing or poor voice acting has taken nothing away from the experience for me. I've got pockets of free time this weekend and this will surely be one of the few games I take to completion.

I really hope this style of gameplay and storytelling sparks a trend and we see a ton of interpretations of this game.
I'm not try to blame you & thanks to God you appreciate too the game after all, but really, I don't understand your previous statement about jaggies because I found HR one of the most crisp game on the ps3, although its bag. Is it possible to have a shot about this?

Finished 1st run through! Tremendous experience! But like i said before some of the acting is just ludicrous! I Did people at Sony or wherever not think it was as bad as it is?! Part of the problem is clearly in the use of french actors trying to do an american accent, sadly its sticks out like a sore thumb! Also feels like they did one atke and just went with it.

As far as the ending goes............I probably got the worst of the worst! lmao.

I got the Platinum trophy now! Took me a good while. I would say 30 some hours. But I loved every minute of it. I want another game from Quantic Dream like right now!

The retailers probably didn't anticipate the brisk sales (Low initial stock). It should take a few more iterations for Heavy Rain-like games to proliferate -- unless Madison's brief strip scene on TV ads is magical. :p

I played the HR demo at home yesterday. I must say the game looks tons better than on my office monitor. Need to upgrade monitor soon.

The defining moment in Heavy Rain for me:

I made the mistake of associating myself with Ethan at the beginning. I avoided the demo. When the first trial came unexpectedly (chop finger to save son), I felt this surge of conflict inside, and got p*ssed at David Cage (Wanted to crack my controller on Cage's head for using my fatherhood to sell his $60 game).

Here Ethan was screaming painfully as I tried to chop his finger off 3 times. I panicked because I suspected the game might abort if I failed too many times. I also knew Ethan would want, or rather *need*, this as a father but at the same time, I kept thinking, "If someone pulled this on me, I'm *so* going to tear his head off".

When I finally poured the alcohol on his half finger, he went howling again. At that point, a small drop of tear raced down my left eye. At that point, the urge to punch David Cage bobbed up again.

It is at this moment that I know the game has reached new ground. Virgin snow. No one's been here before.

I played HR while working at the same time. So I couldn't really concentrate and got one of the bad endings.

I'd say definitely play this on a good TV. I will find a night to play selected chapters with my wife (including Paco's office to see what she thinks).

I was about to start my 2nd playthrough earlier today but i got the YYOD!! Unbelieveable!.............HR disc still inside 8(............Fast forward 4 hours post mortem complete. Hard drive and HR disc salvaged....The rest?...SCRAPPED! Pickup Slim machine 2mora.

Has anyone noticed that there's DLC chapter for heavry rain called "The taxidermist" in dlc menu, but when you go to download it in the playstation store it comes up blank?

The Taxidermist episode is incredible. I wished the rest of the game was as interactive as this little episode. The coolest thing has to be the taxidermist himself. When he notices that you are in the house (this can be avoided entirely if you are careful earlier) he actively starts searching the house room by room (and he doesn't follow a fixed script). Kinda like in a Clock Tower game. You can then choose to confront him, try to flee or hide. If he spots you, the resulting QTE is nothing short of magnificent because there are tons of branching opportunities that really lead to drastically different outcomes. Depending on your inputs the guy chases you around the entire house, and at the end he either guts you, or you may escape through a top floor window, or the garage door, or you might even take a chainsaw to his crotch.
Overall this episode, while still using the exact same tools as the full game, feels more like an actual game in the end without ever sacrificing the cinematic experience. It's very, very impressive and I'm stoked about the other HR Chronicles.

I have the Limited Edition and it had a download code for the episode by the way.

Anyone having issues with audio cutting out and the game freezing? Not sure if it's my PS3 or the game, but I think it's the game because I can repro it sometimes, like walking near the presents in the main dudes house in the beginning of the game will make the audio stop and the game will freeze for 1 to 4 seconds. I guess those presents straddle a portal boundary so it has to toss a lot of data and reload a bunch of new stuff every time I look to the left and right of those presents. The game doesn't outright crash but it almost feels like it sometimes when the freeze is fairly long.

That happens sometimes with my game if I'm downloading something in the background. If not, then I don't have any problems.

The demo froze for me on the Crime Scene level. I could go in and out of the menu and controller options, but my character would not move even though I could still use the change view button. I had no audio issues, but I did notice some tearing that was most noticeable when viewing my character through the rain outdoors.

The demo didn't convince me to purchase this game though as I found the controls not to my liking. I may pick it up used or play it via a rental though.

I'm in the US.

Only available on March 4th in US:

No freezing or audio issues for me. I also didn't have any download going.
