Has the console forum been axed?

I think some of the people you mentioned like tag and a couple others were more noticed when we had gamecube related topics. However there hasn't been much to talk about related to teh gamecube in a while, so perhaps they didn't feel the need to post, I dunno.

Vince acted like a jerk to anyone that didn't share his opinion of sony. That included being a complete ass to Dave B. Just think of how many times he insulted people for no apparent reason. Vince was rightly banned imo.

It's too bad there wasn't a way to ban all these other newbie trolls that appeared as of late. not all newbies mind you, but many of them were just here from opa ages to troll.

wooo...created a topic on this...I thought I was quick

>.>

But yeah...when I come into work I make my daily rounds, which includes most of the forums on B3D, especially the Console Forum. But hey, if it mean s cleaning up all the posts that are locked and weeding out what users are causing the problem...then i'm all for it.

One post that just made me drop my heads into my hands was one where a person posted a MotorStorm picture and asked if it had AA.....at first my mind said...hey...this is probably a fair question...but then I remember humanity and how some people like to poke dead bodies....then I said to myself...this must be the most blatantly flame worth post...but yeah...viva la console forum!! or is it lo console forum...hmmm

Pretty sure it'll be back.

But lately there was so much clutter and non-technical postings it was getting insane.

Too many posts on every little news story and posts that are just links to other sites, no substance or comments on it.

Speng.

Banning less than 5 kids who signed up lately would solve many problems.

Believe it or not, the console forum here was (is?) one of the best on the internet when it comes to insider information and info directly from the developers, and the amount of information contained in the console forum makes any other place on the net look like IGN.

I didn't really mind the console forum. There were certainly trolls, but the useful information was worth it. Sometimes disagreements happen and tempers flare, but it's ok. I think we just need to take a step back and realize that arguing on the internet really isn't a terribly productive use of time. 8)

Also, I think there are a lot of unregistered/unheard people that get a lot of useful information from the console forum. It would be a shame for them lose beyond3d as a resource and have to go to IGN or something instead.

Thats why I love it so much...it can be considered the end-all forum for information...if it didn't originate here..it will end up here eventualy. No need to scour the interent and look through Rainbow colored posts with avatars as big as half your screen. Clean, technical and possibly learn something from developers.

By the way, what happened to the old group of guys - where's Pana, cthellis, Vince, Tag, and the rest of them? All I recogonize is PC-Engine, more PC-Engine...and, of course, Deano, nAo, london-boy, and Faf ....
Pana is still there :) Vince was banned...now I can' t understand why he was banned while others are still here..

LOL, I guess Vince pissed off jvd one time too many...

Having spent a year away from the forums, I've come to appreciate jvd. I used to poke fun at him sometimes, but he really keeps the place together. Sonic sweeps in and nukes all the trolls once in a while, but it seems like jvd is there 24/7.

This the real problem. Not enough tech, and to much ego/fanshit.

I thought Vince brought a lot to the discussions. Though, as Qroach said, He had a bad habit of assuming you were an idiot if you did not agree with him. He did this in all discussions, not just those about Sony.

I do hope the console forums comes back. Allthough I never post in it, I really liked this one due to the techhaeds around, it was a joy to read all the tech stuff there. I do hope it comes back, do not let the trolls wins...

Definately. The new consoles have brought in a lot of kids who don't care about shitting all over this forum, and the quality has gone down a lot lately because of that.

Give it some time, i'm hopeful the console forum will be back in some form, like it "came back" when it was locked for a week or so. Just some time to give the trolls somewhere else to post.

They will come back though and the constant trolling is only going to stop when more mods have admin powers.

B3D's console forum was the only place I found where sensible people could talk sensibly without idiots interfering. Nowhere else offered the technical insights and considerations. As well as devs, the multicultural aspect saw cutting news from all over the globe (or rather, one doing invaluable translations for us ;) ).

Recently it has been a splash ground for PR quotes, screengrabs, and goodness knows what else without any real techie content. It's not like people post pics and say 'how's this effect done?' or something - just plaster a pic and have half say 'looks fantastic' and the other half say 'nyah, seen better', and over and over, I feel like that's going nowhere. It's not like people are gonna change their mind on liking a screenshot after you've insulted them for thinking it bland! :p

Hopefully it's going in for some surgery. Trim away the dead content (move to a separate forum? Add to the gaming forum?) and leave the technical considerations free from encroachers.

It would be a shame to lose the console forum, especially after that brilliant article that Dave B wrote on Xenos and all of the nice dev talk. It's true that there were a good half-dozen new trolls recently, but they should just ban the trolls and continue the discussion without them IMO.

I'll second that. Ever since E3 05, the console forum experienced a never-ending influx of trolls. At the beginning I expected it to die down after a while, but it actually got worse (faoud [sp?], etc.).

Another forum split might do the job as well. When the Console f. was split into Handheld 3D and Console forum, the constant PSP vs NDS bickering considerably decreased. Maybe the should be a Console 3D Tech and a Console Game forum, both with a zero tolerance policy preferably.

It's the zero tolerance policy that needs to be put into place, not the splitting. Even with one console forum with zero tolerance policy (try saying that 10 times fasat) things would be so much better, the way they used to be... u know... ages ago... when PS2 wasn't even out.

I'm heart broken over this. I LOVED the console forum here.

So much "good" info of so many types....gone.

I don't know of any other place on the whole net remotely as good as it was for insight and intellectual discussion.

I really hope it comes back.
