Halo Master Chief Collection [H:MCC] [XO, XBSX|S, PC, XGP]

The game looks nothing like those CG images, it's quite clear at least to me. Nice, but not that nice.

I've watched IGN's video in the first level and fortunately it's a much more refined art style compared to H1A.

I thought it looked awful. Harsh lightmaps on flat textures, and the scene contrast is too high. It has that "Halo 4 forge map" appearance.

Transparency effects need serious work, too. I appreciate lots of alpha, but they're currently often overlit and oversized (at least for that style).

My point was that H1A had issues with the various frequencies of detail. Very busy in the single textures which get tiled over large areas without low freq variation in detail, color, or light/shadow. Then the saturation got turned up to +100% so it was basically a super busy mess of pure red/blue/green and so on.

H2A at least has low frequency variation, you can feel the spaces and separate characters from the background and so on.

Not sure how clear that is, but I'm kinda tired and haven't got the energy to pick screenshots to illustrate. Basically try to look at the images in thumbnail size and see if you can get what's going on in the scene...

It says a lot about them, when you have companies (The Last of Us cough cough) like Sony in pure gold digger style, scratching their balls and changing nothing in the game, just upgrading resolution and framerate.

One is a late in the gen PS3 game and the other an Xbox 1 game... Makes your eye rolling feel pretty silly and ignorant imo + as far as I know, they have changed other stuff as well.

I still can't believe I'm going to be able to play Halo 2 multiplayer again. I don't think no other game this year or next year is going to be occupying my time more than this collection. That and we're also getting the Halo 5 beta in December? Say no more...

afaik, I may be wrong, but the last news I had from the game was from April, and I read it'd be full priced on PS4, and they are thinking about deducting part of that price if you have the original game, but this is not confirmed yet.

TLOU will be full priced, it seems (priced at 64.95€ and 71,99€ is what I've seen from the most part, and a month ago I remember that the extra DLC wasn't confirmed, it is now), a single game launched a year or less than a year ago at a triple A price, now compare with what Azbat has published -all of that at 59,99$ (so it should be like 40+ pounds, 60€ in Europe).

Gotta admit they just want to capitalise on that and add more fans to the series --basically what Laa Yosh said. But I think the value is much greater because of the entire Halo series integration you get with the game.

It is going to be interesting to have that game and see if I can beat the Hangar part on Legendary (Halo 2) and beat Halo 2 like 10 times (on all difficulty levels) as I did in the past -except the Hangar part on Legendary where I reduced the difficulty and never got past it on Legendary.

Once I had beaten the Hangar then I switched to Legendary difficulty level again.

Halo collection includes PC multiplayer maps for Halo 2 and every other MP map of other games (+90 MP maps and 50 spartan ops missions from Halo 4), forge for each game (Halo 2-4), specific multiplayer for each game, Halo:CE and Halo 2 fully remastered and Halo 3 and Halo 4 (which was released just few months before TLoU) at 60fps/1080p. Also we will get halo 5 beta which is the first glimpse of 343i new engine at the end of the year, so they are offering much more content than TLoU Full HD for 60$.

Halo 2 remaster is using Halo 2 engine with some parts of Halo 4 engine (or something like this) according to O'Connor.

The value aspect is one thing, I was commenting about there being less of a need to overhaul the visuals. Yeah I would like to see the Last of Us remake at $39 or something like that.

That Halo Collection is really a great deal! Its shows how serious they are now committed to the gamers.

Kudos to Microsoft, they have here some really serious content for everybody (for me too I really like the HALO franchise...). The strong nostalgia factor for the first 2 and the quality/serious stuff-ness of the 3 and 4.

And about that TLOU comparison, the Halo collection deal may seem a bit better than TLOU's remaster deal, even with TLOU's DLC.

But remember than in some countries TLOU on PS3 is still at FULL price, 52€ at Amazon.fr (amazingly) and still 60€ in my stores when you can buy Halo 4 at 16€ at Amazon.fr and 20€ in my stores.

But that Halo collection is attracting indeed...

Alright, lets focus on Halo and not bring in any more off-topic non-MS non-Halo items into the discussion

This collection is great for people like me who jumped straight to Halo 4 and have never played the previous versions. It will allow me to catch up with the plot, history etc.

The LoU remake includes the DLC.
Yup, with the DLC -I though it wasn't confirmed in April or so, iirc-, 40€-50€ would feel like great value to me, more than that I consider it a bit expensive.

On a different note, Halo 2 has my favourite story of the Halo games, and what Azbat shared and how there are connections between the story of Halo 2 and Halo 5: Guardians, gives me hope for H5 story to be amongst the best in the series.

Additionally, I gotta admit I LOVE Bonnie Ross.:love:

She gives off a great vibe, and seems to have the kind of personality I like the most --from what I observed when seeing her on conferences, interviews and just chatting with other people.

I don't know, her attitude is just lovely. She seems to be sooooooo endearing.

New interview/gameplay video from Polygon. Note how the graphics changes in real time compared to the original!
Which goes to show they have crazy RAM to spare. I am really, really optimistic that the older games have been remastered well. If so, this could easily tip me into buying a Xbox One in a few months.

I don't care for multiplayer, but I really would love to spend a few weeks playing through the campaign :yep2:
