Halo 5: Guardians [XO]

I had more fun with arena, for sure. Warzone is slow and boring. The maps are too big for the player movement. It lacks intensity. And the scoring system is well, not apparent to me. I know you get points for objectives and kills, but you're trying to get to 1000 and it's not really clear to me what the strategy is. Battlefield Conquest is way more intuitive, and so was the scoring in titanfall.

indeed.
War zone needs a bit more explaining than 343i provides. In particular what the players are attempting to achieve.
Anyway, the 1000 points are earned the following way
a) Killing Enemy PVE bosses (VIP) their points value is indicated beside their label
b) Killing opposing players (points per player killed)
c) Base ownership, the more bases own, each amount of time should net the team points (like TF control)

If you own all 3 bases, you can make an attempt to overrun the opposing players base and end the game early. By owning all 3 bases their force field is shut down and allows players to free enter the opposing base to destroy their power core.

I've never seen a successful strategy carried out, because people don't talk in War zone. lol. They seldom talk in arena.

My friend just told me that you can switch your loadout in warzone when you get level 3 and level 5. Can swap your weapon permanently at level 3 for the BR or the sub, and can do some kind of armour loadout at level 5. Would have been good if that was explained in some way at all.

In Warzone, I think you get 1 point for a kill, but more points for capturing bases, and even more from killing the AI bosses.

I agree Warzone is getting boring. I hoped it would be like Invasion from Reach (which had that intensity Scott mentioned), but it isn't. It's pretty chaotic with everyone running around playing Slayer. Then there's the whole issue of spawning with a fucking useless AR on a large map when everyone else has BRs. Also, people are figuring out how to spawn camp. Lovely.

They need to add BTB.

You'd hope they didn't just playtest Warzone with people who all know each other or even considered the possibility of no one communicating.

What sucked about SpOps was that there was no variation due to adhering to a story script. ME3 MP was great because it was randomized objectives and waves, also small enough scope that it didn't rely too much on communication except at harder difficulties.

Meh.

They got rid of the Challenges as well right? Might not have been too bad for PvE folks to get extra req points. Or just have some set reward unlocks in Campaign for X- amount of points.

I just don't see the point of PvEvP when they already have BTB coming "soon", and there will be Warzone map variations without A.I. anyway.

Just finished the campaign. Story is epic even though I'm very disappointed in the direction they took.
Hopefully they'll be redemption in the end.

Played a couple of matches of Arena free for all...got wrecked and finished 5th or 6th. It was a lot of fun though. Does the group want to set up a time to get some team games in?

I am "le suck" in multiplayer, but I'll game if I'm not doing work activities and the NXOE preview dashboard will let me connect.

Is there a way to do MP with just people on your friends list?
I guess it would not be ranked.

It could be fun to have a Team Captain and have them choose from the members available to play.

I think the problem with Warzone is the amount of coordination and team work that is needed to be successful.

To be fair, I haven't played it yet, but going by past Halo games, sometimes getting just 4 players coordinated is difficult. I'd expect you'd have to have a team that plays together regularly to be successful as well as getting some map familiarity.

I'd started replaying the campaign last night primarily focused on finding intel/skulls and really listening to the dialogue.

Is there some page or video with all the audio logs or their text?

I havent seen it yet, but there are multiple guides out there on TrueAchievements with their locations.

From the first 3 missions, each audio clip (117 total in Halo 5) is substantially shorter than the ones from Halo:ODST which had 30 total. I would have prefered less audio clips in H5, 30 to 45 seems about right on 15 different missions. Instead they have 8 to 6 clips per mission.

The clips seem to be more mission specific and not telling a larger story (yet) that I can tell.
